Thats cool but all the more reason if you haven’t done any physical activity for 20 years you shouldn’t assume everything is okay. He could have just as easily died on the race course then wed be reading about another tri death.
999/1000 times this post is titled “Another triathlon death”. Even if an aortic tear occurs in an operating room the chances of survival are really crappy.
And I’m thinking more likely he had an aortic dissection (still bad), rather than a “tear” which I would think of more with trauma. Though he could have had an aneurysm, too.
Anyway…lucky man.
