Makeshift swim ankle band tips?

Any ideas for a makeshift ankle band? Would using a (clean) old tire tube work? Thanks for any experiential advice!

Yep - that’s what i use…no issues.

I use a band made from an old tire too. Works fine. There is nothing better to improve your swimming. But you can always buy one from Speedo. Check it here: http://www.theswimmall.com/product.php?pd_id=7530163

I use the elastic band that comes around Speedo fins. Also, I recently started using a green thera-band from the trainer at the HS where I coach. Those are good b/c you can also use it while kicking breaststroke - it forces the ankles to snap together. You can prob get a piece from a PT or buy 6 yards of it for about $12 and cut it up into pieces to fit around several swimmers’ ankles.

I made one out of a plastic bag for holding a wet bathing suit once in a pinch. You just need something to hold your ankles together, right?

Yes, take an old tube, cut it to length, make a knot in one end and a noose on the other.

Done.

I bought a special triathlon-specific ankle “band” made from carbon fiber with titanium fittings. It was pricey, but it’s been totally worth it. WAY better than those ghetto inner tubes some people use…

Better aerodynamics, allowing for faster ankle band swim sendoffs, and better simulating water flow or something? Gotta cost at least $200?

Does it have the M Dot logo?

Cut a hole in the top of a swim cap. Done.

Goggle strap
Cut the bottom 1" off an old swim cap
Maybe just pull your jammers down around your ankles and go for a fast 100
You’ll figure something out

You’re replying to a year old post. I think you need better FOCUS.

It’s that like some weird variation on the three-legged race for swimmers? It does sound like it would be more challenging but I’m not sure what benefit it would have for my stroke. Tell you what though, I’m going to go out and find a few lawyers to try it out on. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Use a piece of Theraband - you can use it during kick sets also. I found the green works best.

Necroed thread = confusion until I look at the dates.
