Doesn’t this look pretty ridiculous? Are all of the bottles behind the saddle empty and just used for aero purposes (wouldn’t that be illegal)? It’s hard for me to imagine he’s able to access all 3 bottles full of liquid during a race, I didn’t ever see him reach back for a bottle behind the saddle. They are The Feed bottles very prominently featuring the brand so seems like brand exposure is another benefit for Magnus and The Feed.
Our V8 saddle allows for bottle cages to be mounted directly to the saddle. Magnus did use all 3 at Kona. In Dubai, he used them for aero purposes. He’s using our bottle retention loops, as well.
We have a bracket coming out soon that will allow users to mount two and three bottles to the rear of our V8 saddle, with retention loops pre-installed in the bracket.
@Nick_wovebike Will you be in Taupo to demo the saddle?
His seatpost gave up, I think they were full
You just told on Magnus the use of fairings is illegal!
We all know Magnus is meticulous in his aero choices. He was sort of the tip of the spear on BTA bottles high up towards the chest and multiple bottles. Now he seems to be forgoing that for multiple BTS bottles. I wonder what he discovered.
Watts, Bryan. He discovered watts. /pink (kind of)
Either that or he discovered royalty payments on saddle attachment sales are a sure thing and watts still depend on race results to pay out.
ha! definitely not the case.
his team puts performance and aero/watts ahead of all else.
This is hard to police because the moment you try to determine if they’re there for aero or hydration purposes is the moment they just get filled anyway. If you stipulate that they need to be used at some point, then pros are just going to fill with plain water and use it for cooling.
And is it a penalty to be forgetful and neglect to fill your bottles? What if he only wants 1/3 of the water in each bottle because that’s the amount he wants to spray on himself or top off his BTA system with, etc?
To police this, IM would have to simply say, no more than 2 bottles behind the saddle. But it’s strange that for some reason we’d insist that frame tube bottles are ok, but saddle tube ones are not just because a lot of people started orienting them differently.
At some point, however, you might see a legit aircraft turbine shape of bottles back there if something isn’t done though right?
Not even hydration, but flat kits as well. What’s it to IM if I happen need a lot of tools? I’d want to be extra sure that I take enough tubes. Plus, its just a coincidence that its shaped to be aerodynamically efficient as possible.
UCI style boxes are the end result. Just taking triathlon awhile to get there.
