Magnesium and endurance (IM)

Does anyone here consume a min amount of magnesium DURING an Ironman (endurance) event? I mean when you practice/prepare your nutrition plan are you conscious of your magnesium intake?

If so, if you don’t mind, how much and what weight are you? Thanks.

I use endurolytes(a couple per hour), which have 25mg Magnesium per pill. I think Mg is fairly common in the various electrolyte pills. I don’t think specifically about my Mg intake, just about my total electrolyte intake. I’m about 170lbs.

Are you looking at taking Mg capsules or what?

I thought post was about magnesuim framesets and their comfort over 112 miles. LOL

Gatorade endurance (served on course during IM and other MDot competitions) has magnesium in it. But generally I rely on someone else doing the research; in my case, Jonathon Toker of SaltStick. SaltStick has magnesium: http://saltstick.com/products/sscaps/cingredients.htm

The ratio is based on what Jonathon found people lose (on average) in a typical sweat profile.

That being said, Magnesium and Zinc are two of the minerals many endurance athletes are deficient in. Buy a basic ZMa supplement and see if it helps.
