Reports from the IronTour for Lake Placid got me thinking that we should do something similar in Madison.
Perhaps in mid-August we could get together for a weekend of big mileage to assure ourselves that we are ready.
Discuss.

I’d probably come, if my coach okay-ed it, of course.

This is too cool. I hope you guys do it. It is a lot of fun and comraderie. Over the course of the weekend, we had 12 guys participating in a variety of the stages. We had three of us that did the whole thing.
Here is the format depending on what you want to do:
Epicman Madison 3K swim - 180K bike - 21.1 K run
or IronTour Madison
Stage Zero 4000 m swim (Friday)
Saturay: Bike 7 hour (including 10,200 ft of climbing if you can find it), 30 min transition run. Rest eat, swim 50 min later in the day
Sunday: Run 2 hours - Bike 3.5 hours (4000 ft climbing), swim 35min
Keel over and recover.
I think I’m going to at least do the Epicman. I’m assuming this is a one day event?
The IronTour would be in order if we could get a group together. That way we could poke, prod, and generally push each other beyond our limits. It would get to be a really long weekend alone.
Is there anyone out there from Madison who wants to participate and act as a guide around the course?
Sounds like a blast. Weekends of the 20th or 27th work better for me.
Not to rain on any parades, but it’s mid august (3-4 weeks before race day) a little late for an almost full-length simulation?

“mid august (3-4 weeks before race day) a little late for an almost full-length simulation?”
I was thinking it was a little early. How long of a taper are you planning?
I’d be up for something like this - I was thinking ast weekend in August
