That reminds me, there is a really funny cliff bar commercial…
Also, do you think Lance will do triathlons again?
Didn’t read all the responses, but my opinion of tattoos in general is, if you want one, get it. Not everyone’s going to like it not matter what you get, so do it to please yourself.
That being said, I have 2 tattoos that I got when I was 17 and 18. I’m 43 now. At the time NO girls had tattoos, or very few. I knew of only 1 other girl in my college that had a tattoo. Now, it’s hard to find anyone WITHOUT a tattoo, or several of them. What gets me is that it went from being so completely non-mainstream to being totally mainstream to have a tattoo. You see grannies now with tattoos on their ankles. So… in my opinion tattoos really aren’t that hip anymore.
Further… they fade and certainly don’t look as good 15 years down the road as they did when they were new. Also the designs change. Mine look pretty dated now. M-dot may look dated at some point, too, when ten years from now they update the logo or go out of business or take it public or whatever. And if that’s ok with you, go for it. Just a thought.
Now branding, on the other hand, is cool. An M-dot BRAND.
I don’t think so. I love the sport, and I am not very good, nor making money off of it. Simply finishing/enduring for 12-14 hours once a year, I think, doesn’t mean I’m doing it well.
Why do you care what everyone else thinks? Just curious. For the record–I have two tats, one a small m-dot. I like it. Both make me smile when I see them. I don’t give a shit what anyone else thinks about them.
Dont let the corporate logo argument fool ya. When people see m-dot they think of one of the worlds toughest endurance events, not a corporation. I also believe that most people arguing against them actually are dying that someone might be recognized for being an “ironman”, and that might distract some sort of attention from them. I ask, what stands out more, a discreet momento that some like clm smiles at, or someone that spends 500.00 at the expo and dosent have an article of clothing without an m-dot? Go to local a sprint tri and see which is crying for more attention. Flame on.

To put this in perspective – an M-dot tatoo is like a belly button piercing – Looks great and is cool on a woman – and does not belong on a man.
