Now, wait. Wasn’t Lyndon Johnson a democrat? What’s the point of this story - to show that even democrats can be duped by faulty intelligence, or to show that Iraq is going to become another Vietnam, because Vietnam was also based on faulty intelligence? Or, since Haynok, “clears President Johnson and his ministers of any blame,” is Haynok saying that Bush shouldn’t be blamed either??
Or is the point of the story only to point out historical evidence of past intelligence blunders, irrespective of what happened afterward?
