What a bunch of dumbasses.
My favorite part is LSU claims they haven’t fired him yet

He should show up on the sidelines then.
They are pissed that he won’t give back his money. They said they would reach a buyout settlement with him. And he essentially said, yeah, all of it. Not sure why he would agree to take a worse deal. It would be one thing if they were just shooting for faster payout of less money and no offset with future coaching earnings, but they just essentially want him to take less because they don’t want to pay him.
I am going to say that this will not be the first instance of the institutions trying to get out of paying a fired coach. Especially the schools who want to compete but really do not have the money to go at “all cost”.
Just because you spend money and hire expensive Coaches and Players is not a guarantee for a championship. Especially when there are 30 other institutions doing the same thing. Then when things don’t work out being willing to pay an 8 figure buyout to get the next guy who they are going to fire onboard.
I guess we now we know why the governor was sticking his nose into the firing and hiring the next football coach.
The Governor’s statement sure seems to point to them owing the money:
“Right now, we’ve got a $53 million liability. We are not doing that again,” Landry told reporters at the time – comments that are referenced in the lawsuit.
They need to suck it up and honor the contract. It stinks that they’re trying to make up some BS and call it for cause.
I hope this will start bring some sanity back into the college football equation.
