In the process of swapping my base/aerobar setup on my Shiv (currently have alloy + low stack kit + 3T ski). Am looking at getting either Vuka bull or Svet Zero for base bar, then one of the above clip-ons combined with 3T ski (might need to purchase another set as suspect with Specialized low stack kit my current ski bends will be too short once in the new setup). Question is to what is the lowest stack of the above clip-ons? The best I can tell, it seems like (min stack):
Zipp Alumina Clip: 35mm
Profile: 55mm
3T: 57mm
Sound right? Thus Zipp would be lowest stack? Also noted the new http://www.zipp.com/bars/detail.php?ID=65 option which looked good on first glance, though looking through the PDF instructions the cable entry position seems not very optimal (below instead of at rear), so will probably stick with the original Zipp clips.
I am not familiar with the PD or 3T offerings, but note that to get the 35mm pad stack on the Zipp requires using the version that undermount the extensions.
The VukaClip 22.0 you linked is actually an old product they no longer offer.
Low stack aerobars offerings are very limited. The Felt Bayonet and some of the Vision offerings are probably the lowest w/o requiring extensions being undermounted. But getting info or specs and purchase access on either of these is challenging…
The 30mm stack, 200mm pad width is with an extension width of only 70mm (if you’re male you’re unlikely to fit your fingers through), so realistically you’re looking at a minimum pad width more like 220mm to get the lowest stack position. The lateral adjustment shown in the chart is solely thanks to moving the extensions on the bar.
I don’t have any stats on the Enve, but it is lower than the above bar models.
The old 3T Pro clip has lower stack than their current bars (Vola) at 40mm
But it doesn’t allow stack adjustment and comes with the nasty small armrests.
The Shiv low stack bars are 46mm stack. Do you have any spacers in them, what angle is your stem? If there is any height to be taken from those locations you’ll be fine to go with the 55-60mm stack bars. Otherwise you’re going to be best to hunt out a Felt Bayonet 1 or Profile Volna (both semi integrated).
The Old Vision Clip ons offer low stack but are pretty limited in adjustment so you’d only go that way if you were sure of your position in every respect.
Thanks for the info cyclenutz. I currently have the low stack kit with no spacers (under armrests), and am on a -17 comp multi specialized stem. Just got the standard dust cover below that (10mm from memory) too, so options to go lower on existing setup are limited. I could get a zero stack dust cover which would give me ~10mm more to play with. If low stack is 46mm, that gives me 56mm? My pad width is 170mm centre-centre. So looking at your plot, that seems to give me an option with the Zipps (without going to an even more extreme -ve stem)?
Something like a Slamthatstem cover is still 3 or 4mm stack. So you’ll gain ~6mm
So you could just barely hit your numbers with Zipp Vuka Alumina Clip on the 2nd facet (53mm stack) and a sensible extension width.
I’d suggest getting one of these - will give you a lot more options. I think of them as the ‘Shiv fitters friend’
What do people think of profile volna. I am looking for a low stack carbon aerobar for my p2( using stock bars now)How adjustable are they? How aero is the bar? Seen prices as low as 220. How does the profile aeria, 3t review or vola, zipp Vuka stealth measure up. Would like to get a bar under 600 with upcoming Black Friday sales
Volna is fairly limited on the adjustability front, but aero performance is good. You only get ~10mm stack adjustment but it’s independent of the extensions. Not much width adjustment on pads though a decent range on reach.
Aeria is much taller with a lot more stack adjustment
Current 3T Vola Team goes to low stack but that requires undermount. It is quite adjustable but it can be complicated to work out how to get to where you want to be.
Vuka Stealth is tall stack, highly adjustable but can be time consuming to make the adjustments.
Felt Bayonet 1 is the most adjustable for least complexity low stack bar.
HED Clip-Lite? Like the 3T pictured above the aerobar extension in line with the base bar. The butterfly pads are way better than the 3T (Cee-Gees make them awesome, but add some stack).
I think the bottom of the arm rest are 10mm above the top of the bars. The arm rests are only a few mm thick.
