Low rent bike pr0n

Ok, I see all the bike pr0n on here, and I’m jealous. I realize this is the $2 hooker version of pr0n, but this is what I’m working with right now…Trek 1000, Sora components, Look Keo pedals, Profile design Aerostryke aerobars, AND an Avocet 45tt cyclocomputer. (Total price $250 including the trainer)

Dude, that’s sweet for $250 with a trainer!

I’m a sucker for yellow bikes.

Might want to make it $250.49 and get a two-by-four under your front wheel…

Nice job for the price! You’re 95% of the way to the bikes that cost twenty times what you paid!

Totally reminds me of my Trek 1400…I loved that bike…at least until I t-boned a good ole boy who turned in front of me in a big ford pickup. Replaced by a first generation 2120 OCLV.

Nah, if you look close, just behind the front wheel is the “star” base that the front wheel sits in. I turned it around for the picture, it’s normally tucked behind the end of the futon in the spare bedroom (Facing the TV).

I felt so guilty about disparaging the bike that I had to go comfort her with an hour ride. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, first half.

Very nice. Here’s my winter trainer (ridden with old Look pedals and fenders):

I have some $$$$ bikes, and I have to admit that this one doesn’t hold me back much, if at all.

Ride it like you stole it, and enjoy passing the fat old men on their Zipps.

This would be my 13$ hooker

Man, nice clean cars, no snow, sun is shining.

I’m still waiting for a spring thaw. Now get out there and ride that thing.

No seeum pics. And my bike is my ONLY bike, not just a trainer.

You can be jealous of all the normal bike pr0n, but I’m jealous of you and your $250 set-up.

I’m trying to build up a cheap bike now, and I’m shooting for under $500.

Man… take all that money you saved and invest in a vacuum cleaner. What a pig sty!

We have a vacuum cleaner, thank you very much. The black stuff is shreds from the dance floor my wife uses daily, and the fabric is from her garb for Ren Faire that she works on almost daily. Until faire is over, it’s good enough as is.

But I appreciate your sanctimonious, holier than thou denigration of our spare room.

John

LOL… new around here?

It’s much more fun to pass someone when your bike costs less than theirs.

Even the Cervelo/Kuota/pick-your-brand super-duper, cost-millions-to-photograph promo pic will get the ‘royal’ treatment here!

Ah, I’m just in a cranky mood. Lunch sucked, and it’s a serious pain in the ass to try to get around Scottsdale at lunchtime when all the spring training nuts are careening around trying to find parking to go watch a bunch of people that will probably be cut anyway play a boring game, while paying $20 to park, $6 per hot dog, $6 per 12 oz beer and $25 per souvenir.

Maybe if they are lucky, they can cluster around the fence begging uppity roid junkies for autographs that they’ll then turn around and sell on eBay within 4 hours.

Heh. Nah, I don’t hate spring training. Not at all…

John

Good deal! Don’t be jealous of all the high-zoot stuff. It ain’t really much faster than what you got. In fact, with the evolution of technology, your bike is probably better than what Dave Scott won his IMs on.

Amen brother. I got passed at the top of a hill (clydsdale) in the Tour of Palm Springs. He was on an Aqua Cannondale with down tube shifters. I hoped in his draft and we passed at least a hundred people. I coaught up beside him and asked how cool it was to pass all of these people on 12 year old bikes. He laughed and said “12, this thing is 18 years old”. He was a stud.

It’s all about the engine.

The only thing I can fault is the granny gear.
