I just made up that headline…they mention it in the article…
“Based on these findings, we think that a fall in leptin levels increases motivation for physical activity as a means to enhance exploration and the pursuit of food,” says senior study author Stephanie Fulton of the University of Montreal.
interesting; thanks for sharing. I don’t understand what they mean by “enhance exploration and the pursuit of food.”
I’d say it means “causes one to get up off their butt and head out and about where food might be found rather than sit there and starve to death.” Hence the placement of aid stations every mile in an Ironman;)
It means it gives the mouse motivation. If they get a “good feeling” when they go out and expore for food - they will do it more often. They get a good feeling reward for trying to find food, then a reward for finding it (the food).
