Lost screw in Oval brake lever

Last night I did a hard 30k TT and I noticed at the end that the screw in my Oval A900 left brake lever was missing. I have had the bars for a bit over a year now and I have always had to tighten them before every ride/race. I did the standard tightening before my ride, but it fell out. I road back slowly over 10km to find it, but it was getting cold and I could not track my route the rest of the way back.

Anyone else have this problem? I have been meaning to put loctite on them, just never have got around to it. I hope Oval can send me a replacement, I am racing AIT in 6 days. Might have to make something work from HDR.

If you find out, I wanna know. I’ve been missing one for 1.5 years now! I have the outer nut, just not the screw. Wouldn’t mind some replacement arm pads too.

How have you ridden this long like that? I was stressed on my ride home and kept holding onto the nut.

I just put a peice of electrical tape over the outside nut, so that it doesn’t come out. No problems.

Maybe I can get one made…

Ok…First Off. You can buy replacement pads at www.trisports.com. The screw. That happened to a pair of mine. Just go down to home depot with the screw and you will be able to find a backend for it. Only cost about .75 cents. Paint it black if you need to make things match. Make sure and use lock tight as I don’t think the factory used it a while back. They do now though…

Hope this helps…

Happened to me on my Heds, which I think are the same. On the Hed, it is an 8-32 screw, I used a 1/4" one.

If Oval uses metric, you still should be able to find a replacement at Lowe’s or Home Depot or any decent hardware store…

TriSports sells replacement parts like pads and such…

I have the backend. No screw.

I think he means take the screw out of the other brake lever. I will be going to HDR on Monday and will probably do that.
