Looks like Macca got a Shiv

Macca apparently just got this to try out…I wonder who else is getting new bikes for Kona?

Not Cervelo, who gives a F&%#:)
.

which poster is it that best represents the Cervelo Nazi that ST pretends is so prevelant?

it could be me

except, I think the shiv is awesome

so what now?

I’d like to get a new bike for Kona… but that would require me actually going to Kona first!

I’ll admit, it’s a sexy bike and I would ride it in a heartbeat! Anything beats my old POS

maybe it’s the pic angle…but that sure is one long-ass top tube!

Maybe someone is trying to make the ‘superman’ popular again! Hasn’t that thread been floating around ST for the last couple days too?

That’s not a fast bike.

It’s got no gears or pedals, is it one of those kiddie’s scootalongs? His legs will be wasted come the run!

That front end is going to be awesome in those Kona crosswinds.

Given the TdF results, I think everyone will care…the others are faster. Over 4 1/2 hours, imagine the time differences…HUGE

Hmmm…is it just me, or does that seat tube angle look extra “slack”…the twitpic caption does say “custom” Shiv (then again, aren’t they ALL custom at this point? Here, compare to Fabian’s model:

Yeah, I think the angle exaggerates it a little, like the top tube length, but it does look pretty slack. Maybe a little bit of an Ames room effect.

I think Macca rides fairly slack anyway although the saddle looks like it is almost over the rear axle. I would have some serious nutrition problems with a hip angle like that, but I can’t argue at all with his results.

It sure does! Looks like 73 degrees. At first I thought it was just an optical illusion because of the seat tube, then realized it probably isn’t more than 76 degrees because of Saxo Bank and UCI regs. But, these are pretty much all custom right? That pic of Fabs really does look different with the saddle/BB line.

I beg to differ… its got no brakes =)

The guys at the local wind tunnel believe that it is certainly more aero to place the gears, pedals, and brakes in a compartment just behind the bottom bracket.

Hey guys,

The bike has a 76 deg ST angle and both Macca and Terrenzo fit on the 456mm (horizontal reach from BB to center of armpad) frame in the same exact position as their current Transitions are configured. The bike pictured was a sample we were showing Macca during a meeting this past winter. He’ll get a bike to try out in the coming weeks.

And the nosecone doesn’t get bothered too much by the crosswinds – while it of course increases side force, it’s easy to hold down in big crosswind. And of course it does help decrease the bike’s drag significantly.

X2 That thing is really going to suck in the wind with no crank, I thought these Specialized guy knew what they were doing? Apparently they spent too much time focusing on just the seat height

hopefully that thing has sturdier cables than the transition he rode last year.

That bike makes me want to throw up. Ugliest thing ever.

I wasn’t a big fan of the bikes looks either…UNTIL i went down and met Mark Cote 2 weeks ago and got to speak with him and test ride this bad boy. Its amazing how it handles, super stiff, responsive and unlike in the pictures it is a REALLY NICE looking bike!!

At least there’s no cables to break…
