Looking for advice to setup my P2

I am getting a new to me (used) 2016 Cervelo P2. However, it’s completely stock and I want to set it up for top performance. The main things I am seeking advice for are a new/different seat (which one?), hydration solution (type/models?), and any other suggestions. I don’t have a ton of money to dump into it right away, but over the long haul I will probably upgrade wheels/tires also eventually… Any help and advice appreciated, thanks!

Some of my favorites…
Fast tires & latex tubes. I run Continental GP 4000s II 25mm tires with Vittoria latex tubes.Xlab Torpedo Versa. I have the 500 and love it. The 200 is basically the same, but heavier. The computer mount is super convenient. There are tons of other options for BTA.Seat is entirely personal. I have the Cobb JOF 55. That was selected for me by my fitter, but it seems to be popular.Don’t forget the behind the seat bottle system. I have the Cobb bracket made for the JOF 55. There are tons of options for this too.

  • Rims
  • xlab gorilla cages
  • race with a decent tire “I run vittoria corsas 700 x 25c”
  • Aero Bottle of your choice - profile design or xlab
  • Bento Box for steering stem “reduces drag caused by stem and headset spacers” check out xlabs stealth
  • DI2 or E-tap " electronic shifting is amazing"
  • A seat that doesn’t get you sore
  • Proper Bike fitting
  • bbinfinite bottom bracket - great fix when your cervelo bottom bracket bearing starts squeaking

These are all options to think of or look into
.

Seats are very personal. I’d find a local store with a saddle demo program. For hydration, the posts above mine have solid suggestions. For aero, eventually you’ll want a set of Omega X brakes and a fast bar (Alpha X is a good choice but there are others out there too).

Awesome, thanks everyone for the advice. I’m going to try to exert some “self-control” and not do all these upgrades at once, but I’ll be looking to make improvements incrementally.

What is the advantage of the different brakes, and also what is a “fast bar?”

You might find this hard to believe but the difference between the stock aero bar and a “fast” aero bar can be the same as the difference between your P2 and a round-tubed road bike.

Fast bars:
-Alpha X
-3T Ventus
-Felt Devox
-a few others

The advantage of the Omega X brake is that it routes the brake cable in line with the head tube which is more aero. There’s a rule of thumb that every 1" of exposed cable costs about 1 watt. That might not seem like much but watts add up. Also, the brake itself has an aerodynamic shape and it’s pretty easy to set up and live with. It makes disassembling the bike for travel quite easy: just pull the cover off, pull the wedge out, remove your cockpit, and put it in your bike case/box.

Got it, yes, now I know what you mean. The “flatter & more aero” handlebars that come on the higher end tri-bikes…completely agree. I’ll have to keep my eye out for that upgrade for sure! As for the brakes, that makes sense… Question about the bike box, do a lot of people transport that way and completely disassemble all the time? I usually just take off my front wheel and transport the rest of the bike as-is?

Only if you fly with your bike.

While it might seem obnoxious to pay $100+ dollars for cut plastic, you can get the vast majority of the aero benefit you would get from a full disc wheel.

Looking at best bike split, I think the benefits of a disc wheel are vastly overstated. That said, a cover is amazing bang for buck.
