Thinking in crossing the border from MX in Chihuahua to get some of these. Too complicated to explain but crossing the border to personally secure these on time for an important race seems to be the best option.
The only shop in El Paso that has Vittoria tubular tires is Crazy Cat-- the one on Redd Road has a better selection as I recall. I am not sure which type of tires they have in stock, I would call. Adrian or Scott will take of you. They also had some Specialized tubulars the last time I was in the shop that look like they are made by Vittoria.
or try Richard’s Cycle Sports on Country Club Rd.- call ahead and order, whichever shop you plan on hitting- or, Mike’s store on Mesa ST. by UTEP- Bicycle Co. Tubies can be hard to find instock-call ahead
581-0227 for Rich and 544-2453 for Mike. They’re racing in Juarez this wknd I believe-there’s a series
I just decided to drive to Chihuahua via Tucson and El Paso. I will pick up the tires and some other staff at Trisports as some of you advised in your PMs. It is a much longer drive from Mazatlan but we have a lot of time available and the kids will be able to ride in different places.
I did not know that you live in Las Cruces all year long. That would be great! I am in a hurry now as I have to take the kids out to ride but I will PM you soon.
Just have it FedEx to El Paso for a station pickup. Seems a lot of wasted time and expense to drive to Tucson.
Good tip, I did not know that you could pick up a package at a Fedex station in the USA. I will do that in the future for sure.
I do not mind about the (much) longer drive because the kids will have more fun than driving through the more familiar Mexican roads. We can stay a day or two in Tucson and then visit Paulo at Las Cruces. I will also have a chance to stop by at Wilcox, AZ and visit my hawker and falconer friend Harry McElroy, a living legend among falconers.
It will be a very interesting trip and it will help distract Sergio in the last two weeks before the race. His little brother also qualified but he cares less if he wins or not ( and that is just fine )
