I want to stepup to 1/2IM distance in 2004 (August timeframe) and preferably in Europe, so far the only one I found is the 1/2IM UK but I was hoping for something in Germany or Belgium.
Anybody any suggestions?
PS
It does not need to a M-dot race

Here are 2 sites of the races that francois posted.

there are also some races in Spain but not in august. I raced in Guadalajara international triathlon (2.5,80,20) near Madrid but it was 14 of september… its not august but its close.

If you want to race in Belgium in august, check out http://www.triathloneupen.com/, it will probably take place 1st of august. Very nice race, that involves quite some climbing. Rutger Beke, who all of you know by now, won this year.
If you are looking at races in the UK non IM, then check out:
Early season in June, Weymouth Middle Distance.
A sea swim followed by a rolling bike ride and then a run around the coast to finish, a great race.
Found here at http://www.conceptsport.co.uk
Alternatively in North Wales in June the Bala Middle distance.
Lake swim in chilly waters, rolling bike and hilly with some offroad run. Good event I’m told.
Later on there was the Vitruvian. Held in Nottinghamshire

If anyone wants a half/middle distance race in may/june look for the Pau triathlon. You race from the foot of the Pyreenes in Lourdes to Pau on a very challenging bike course with lots of technical descents on narrow roads. The race usually attracts a strong French field and is excellent fun, just beware of the weather. I last did it in 2002 so I´m not 100% sure it´s still on but if it is I highly recommend it.
Aberfeldy 1/2 IM in Scotland mid-Aug
and Lost Sheep Tri (http://lostsheep.corktri.com/) in Ireland in Sept
…both very hard bike courses
.
Nah, I think Le Floch won in 2002. You´re probably thinking of the race in 2000. That´s the only time I´ve been truly scared in a race.
I like to thanks everybody who responded to my request, seems enough choices. Now comes the difficult part and that is fitting it into my calender.
Why? What was the weather like? Sounds like an interesting story.
Since I have a cold and can´t train here is a brief description of the 2000 race.
Contrary to the ridiculously early starting times in the US this half starts at around 2pm. About 5min before the start that year I was talking to my host for the weekend and local triathlete John about the likely weather outcome for the race. He said that since we had a cloudy morning we were in for a good afternoon with clear skies and calm weather. 10min later it was raining so hard it hurt even with a wetsuit on. By the time we got to the bike the roads were flooded and at some stages we were going through small country roads with a mixture of cow-shit and water reaching over the hubs on the bike. The most dangerous part of the race was the hail- and thunderstorm. Riding as a moving target at the top of a hill with a big piece of metal under you and a thunderstorm over your head didn´t feel that good. Going down the other side on twitchy roads covered with a 10cm layer of hail on full-carbon wheels and 18mm tires wasn´t pleasant either.
I did manage to survive the bike but the run was as usual a whole different story…
