Do you have any creaking with either of the pedals? I had this problem with the carbon-ti Keo’s & the new Max 2’s are much nicer…cheaper too. But seems like even with replacing the cleats they eventually “creak”. No creaking with Speedplays, but maybe it could be the spring that eventually creaks. So if you own a LOOK BLADE do you have ANY noise coming from them yet?
Creak, creak, creak…
I have used Keos in their various forms since they replaced the Delta pedals but have never had problems with creaking until I purchased some Keo2Max.
I suspect it is the interaction between the rubber stud, plastic cleat and the metal platform. I find the pedals tend to be creak free on a dry day but if the cleats get even slightly damp you are in for some noisy riding. If I know I’m going to be riding on a wet day I tend to rub a bit of teflon/wax lube on my finger and smear it over the pedal platform. This helps for a while at least.
All signs are that the Blades with be a creak-fest as well since they feature the metal platform.
Another thing that annoys me about Look cleats is how they have changed the composition of the pedal with the Keo grip cleats. Previously the Keo had white teflon inserts at the contact edges with the pedal but these were removed on the Keo Grip. One step forward, two steps back!
I have been using the Keo2Max and have had some creaking. I recently removed the rubber grips from the front of the cleat and haven’t had any noise since; it’s also been cleaner clipping in and out of the pedals.
Look also have a Keo cleat with the Teflon inserts, I had the same on my old Look pedals and never had a problem with creaking/noise.
I have a pair of Keo Blades and haven’t heard any creaking. Seems fine. This is my third pair of Keos (Sprint, Carbon and now Blades) and the only creaking I’ve experienced was when a cleat was coming loose.
I have Keo Carbons and mine never creaked until I got new cleats with the rubber on the bottom. Now, they creak like hell with ANY moisture on them. Its pretty annoying. I am going to try the lube trick mentioned above.
All I hear from my blades is the sweet sound of springless SNAPping and superiority.
Using rubber tipped cleats.
had some creaking on my previous Keo carbons, but none on my newer Keo2 max. I use the Black zero float cleats.
