Need some advice on my 6 nth old looks. Started to get a horrible clicking noise in the left pedal on the top of the down stroke under load. Seem to get 2 clicks - 1 at 10 o’clock and another at 7. I’ve taken the pedals off to get a look at what is going on inside as I was starting to wonder about bearings. Now I haven’t pulled apart pedals before but I have played with bearings on boat trailers a bit and it would seem that there is nowhere near enough lubrication going on here. Would love some feedback to confirm or deny and also what grease is the right grease for this application? Put simply the click is driving me insane and any noise like that can’t be good…
Also check the cleats. My left cleat starts to click at the top of the stroke when the cleat gets worn (I always unclip on the left so that cleat wears quicker.) As far as the pedals go I can’t offer any advice there.
What do the bearings feel like? Smooth or grindy?
If smooth just put a deep 12mm socket over that bearing collar and tap it with a hammer to make sure it is not loose.
Then grease the spindle and the rubber seal’ under the rubber seal too.
Use a light grease like slick honey.
Might also want to take tips and swab out the inside of the pedal body.
Then put together with blue loctite on threads.
Don’t over tighten- it is plastic on plastic.
It may feel stiff when put back together- this is seal drag.
Try new cleats like the other post said.
I have fond these pedals to hold up pretty well.
If the bearings are shot your dealer can get complete replacement internals from Look.
Thank you. Turned out to be a lack of lube. Must have been produced on a Friday just before knock off…
