Look 596 is it a decent bike?

i currently have a p4 and have an oppotunity to pick up a new look 596 for a great price.

was thinking of selling the p4 anyways, is the look a pretty decent bike? i tried to search some info on it but haven’t found alot, it hasn’t been updated for a few years and wanted to know if it can compete with some of the new super bikes.

That’s a downgrade for you.

Huge downgrade.

noted, thanks.

i’ll try to stick with the p4…it fits me well so i’ll keep it.

How do you determine if its a downgrade?

Aero performance is very close, quality is miles better, it’s much stiffer, more comfortable and looks better IMHO.

The P4 is one of the most aero framesets available IF it fits you without headset spacers.

The Look has a massive range of adjustment that is not possible on the P4 and therefore may be more aero for some riders.

Cheers

In what universe?

in a world where narrow is aero, the Look 596 is narrow. http://www.bikesportmichigan.com/reviews/Look-596/LG/look59620.jpg

I’ve never seen data on it, so who is to say, there are certainly some unique design features but its still got 3:1 tubes, a deep headtube section, and internal routing.

Has anyone ever seen data on the 496? I’d be surprised if it were in the ballpark of the P4, but lets not forget that lots of people said the same about the Spec Transition and the P3…

If the P4 fits you well I would say stick with that. The 596 is a great bike and I love mine but it would not be like you are upgrading to a superbike. I would not say it is a “huge downgrade” though. Not sure how they came to that conclusion. The 596 isn’t that well documented so I would like to see their evidence backing this claim.

This is what I always try to remember: The fastest frame doesn’t necessarily mean its the fastest frame for you.

.

That’s a downgrade for you.

it’s too pretty to be considered a ‘downgrade’ and at $7000 for a standalone frame I am pretty sure it’s the most expensive frame on the market. What is a P4, like ~$4000? Maybe 5K? That being said, P4 certainly could be more aero regardless of price

P4 is one of the ugliest bikes ever made. The look is beautiful… Look has street cred… These guys were doing bayonet forks long before anyone else. Not to mention rear wheel cut outs, and fins. The stem is cool. The crankset is cool. I’d go the look any day. … And aero isn’t everything.

Seriously, aero isn’t everything especially when it’s ugly. I’d take the look based on style alone
