I am in market for some aerobars. May move to a full aerobar setup someday but currently want to check out a clip on scenario first b/c this may be my last year of triathlon.
Ive checked out a few at local shops but as many of you know they definitely have only limited selection of whats really out there. The selection of PD bars were way too short by at least 5cm(at least) Pushing the pad back crosses the max length suggested. Seems like optimal placement of the pad is to be near the elbow.
So, Who makes the longest ones?
Gross measurements are below…
My elbow to wrist measurements are: 32cm(basically the ulna length)
My elbow to mid hand measurements: 39cm

I put the Tri Rig Gamma extensions on my base bar (Enve). They make their extensions extremely long so you can trim either end.

You’re holding the aero bar in the wrong spot or you have a goofy bike fit.
The end of the aero bar should be in the palm of your hand. If there was shifter on the end of the bar you would pinch it with your thumb and index finger.
I prefer my pads to be a few CM forward of the elbow where there is a bit more “meat” for cushioning.

Yes I agree with you re: palm of hand for distal end. In doing that the pad is at mid to distal third of forearm and that is pushed to limit for the PDs that I checked out.
I was just giving general forearm dims as a gauge of how long my arms are if anyone wanted to compare. Im ~6’5" tall.
yeah those gammas look to be at least 10cm longer than the longest PD I checked out…may have to snag a set.
Did you check the Enve clip ons? I haven’t seen a spec, but their extensions are made to offer multiple cutdown options and seem very long.
For me personally I decided not to use the Enve extensions that came with their bar. Extensions are long with lots of options. But I prefer ski bend and to do that with theirs you have to keep that goofy rise up from where the s bend would be.
Felts f-bend extensions are also pretty long, I use those on my PD setup.

Looks like Felt is 340mm. Gamma is 450mm or so.

this. Have you talked to anyone knowledgable in person? My elbow to mid palm is maybe a cm or two shorter and I have no problem on something standard like the aura pro not maxed out. I did have some 250mm visions that were too short.
I had the same problem (6’8" here) and had some aerobars custom made. I am not using those anymore because of back issues. Thet are Syntace C3 extensions plasma welded to a Vision clamp&pads. Send me a PM if you are interested, I can measure them this afternoon.
