We’ll all help you if you fill us in on what’s going on with TriDubai!

Phew, let me go through my collection of Triathlete magazine France of those years, but it may take a few months since I just moved and they are somewhere in the cellar in a box.

You may ask Brad Bevan since you were training with him at the time.

What about the France Iron tour (or was it after 93) ?

I have no idea as I am no longer on the team.
I am racing on Team American Inter Banc.com for 2007 and 2008

I also remember a race in Austria, with a terrible climb on the run (I think I saw it on Eurosport, there Mike Pigg, Mark Allen and I think you doing it, right ?)
.

“ITU World Championships, Maskoka, Canada”

Was there to watch you win and was involved with the post and pre race interviews with CBC TV and reporting for Inside Triathlon.

By the way, it’s spelt Muskoka.

I hope that you are doing well.

The France Iron Tour started in 2005.

Hey Simon, I recall you racing the France Irontour in 1999 or thereabouts. It was a year or two before Sydney.

And I agree with Fleck…its MUSKOKA…and man did you ever kick ass!

What will it take to get you back for a race in Canada? Keep 70.3 Newfoundland in Cornerbrooke in mind!

Dev

Simon, if and when you have a moment, it would be amazing if you could write a note or two about the Triathlon Internationale de Marrakech as well as the Triathon de Reunion.

I thought you also did an Olympic tri race that started in Lac Leman (Lake Geneva~300m abouve sea level) at Evian and ended the bike at the ski resort at Avouriaz at 1800+ m and then you guys ran 10K up the ski hill for another 1000m vertical to the summit. I remember John Westdal telling me about this event…they need more races like that

…I’m waiting for 70.3 Alpe d’Huez!!!

I also remember a race in Austria, with a terrible climb on the run (I think I saw it on Eurosport, there Mike Pigg, Mark Allen and I think you doing it, right ?)
.

kick ass in Muskoka? Are you kidding me? I was in the citizens wave that started two hours before the pro race and I finished seconds before Simon (the last person to not get pulled from the course). Not sure what happened to me but the meltdown I had was epic. Saw the lead men coming off the bike where the 6km mark of the run passed the road. Simon ran 10km faster than I could run 4 (faster because he was still on the bike and I was already moving). Kicked ass? Hell yeah!

Don’t want to speak for Simon, but he probably meant 1995 (and not 2005) for the first Iron Tour. We are so used to refer to 2000 something now

Did you try to reply or add something to my comment ? I can’t see any reply on the forum.
Thanks in advance.

yes… very strange… I commented that Mountain man tri was in Austria. I think I was in that race with Simon - solid hills in the bike and the run as I remember. But I think it was '93-95. I think I missed the first, and did 94/95 editions.

Was a great race - although the water was a bit cold (11 celcius I think)…

Simon,

1990 did you not race at Wakefield in the UK?
I think 1992 you raced at the Swindon Triathlon - not sure if that was the GB champs. Not sure if you raced Swindon any other year before it’s demise.
The 1991 European Juniors were at Losheim in Germany.
1992 or 1993 there was the Bath International Tri (Did Hammish Carter raced as well?). I think Carol Montgomery made an appearance in the ladies one year at Bath.
Not sure if it was listed but you raced the 1991 Senior Worlds on the Gold Coast, Oz when still a junior.

Hope that’s helpful
Mark

Without out trying to hijack the thread may we ask roughly what the total is?

Simon, wasn’t it around that time you raced against Spencer (and Bill?) at Bath? Must have been close to it. I’ll see if I have some 220s for around that time for you. I suppose it’s a dumb question to ask if you have googled it or checked if the www.triathletes-uk.org results go back that far?

I think the “Bath Battle” was in 1994. I have googled, but results only start to appear frequently around 1994.

At this stage I am trying to go on memory!

i thought you were also in the marseilles triathlon in '92. i believe i as there that year, and jean pierre francoul took us to dinner at that tunisian restaurant. weren’t you there? i think that was '92. but maybe that was '91.

What happened to your training log from back then?

That Austrian race was Kitzbuehl “Mountainman” and you might have also raced “Schliersee” in Germany back then.
Just think of other big short course races in Europe, mainly France.

Good exercise for a rusting brain. We ain’t fifteen, are we?

Cheers
