Long Run Hydration Pack

Anyone have any good long run hydration pack options? I want something comfortable that holds around 16oz. Distances 10km - marathon (and skate skiing too)

Doesn’t matter if it doesn’t have any further pockets.

Advice on anything from single bottle to camelback style packs.

Your thoughts?

hey

Here are some suggestions,

For something to hold 16oz, I would go with a hand held bottle such as this:

or a waist pack:

For 2 hrs or more, I prefer a hydration pack, such as this:

hope this helps

I really like my Fuelbelt. They make lots of different configurations and I like that the individual bottles are 8 oz each so I can customize what kind and how much hydration I carry. Durable as well. I’ve had my current version over 4 years.

I got a hydrapak on chainlove for like $20. Its something like this

but probably last years version. I tried handhelds and didn’t like them and figured I’d give a “backpack” type a try. Ran 26 in it and it was great, barely even noticed it. Its nice because it has a decent sized pocket for gels, keys, and iphone. Kept headphone wires out of the way having my phone high on my back. The reservoir can be turned inside out for easy cleaning. I will say that this thing doesn’t seem like it’ll last for years and years though.

Nathan makes great minimalist run packs. I have the HPL#020 and love it. Holds plenty of nutrition, hydration, cell phone, essentials for backcountry runs. The HPL#008 is a smaller version when you don’t need extra supplies. I thought the lack of a waist belt would cause it to jump all over the place but it really stays put quite well.

I love the ergonomics of the Nathan packs which actually come with Hydrapak reservoirs. It’s a nice marriage.

I use this one. Keeps the center of gravity low and doesn’t bounce. Of course, I never fill it to full capacity. Never had to.

I have a single bottle holder with a waist band. Pretty cheap ,like $10. Holds a standard water bottle so no cleaning issues.

Plenty there, thanks guys.

I am guessing that even Marathon distances I am unlikely to want more than a 24 Oz and I think that I would prefer not to have a tube running over my shoulder or under my arm so a bottle may be the way to go. Easier to throw in the dishwasher too.

Apparently my wife doesn’t feel the urge to set up aid stations for me at pre-conceived intervals, anyone else have un-cooperative spouses. I pointed out that our vows stated that she would be by my side for better or worse and that being dehydrated constituted worse. She told me to shut up.
