This Sunday I’m doing my first sprint, the aforementioned one…anybody sporting peaceful tribe apparel?
I’ll definitely be bringing up the rear in the “large and slow” category but I will definitely finish.
Anyone know anything about the course?
Anyone going?

You picked a good litte race for your first. It’s small, well-run and flat as a frying pan. The swim is point-to-point in flat water. No waves or currents to worry about. Not much scenery to look at on the bike or run and not at all technical so it’s perfect for putting your head down and hammering. You can download a course map on the race website: ligoldcoasttri.com. I’m sure you’ll finish and finish faster than you think.
Have a good race.

I’m sure you won’t bring up the rear. This is a first time race for alot of people. I’m doing the bike leg of a relay team - we all did Eagleman last weekend. The swim could be cold and you need to walk to the swim start from transition, so bring a pair of flip flops that you don’t mind throwing away. The water here in Port Washington is murky at best - other than this tri - I never swim in it. The bike is two loops of flat and fast, the run is an out and back and is also flat. Sometimes the course runs up one short steep hill but that’s it. Its a fun, local race. Hope this helps you out.
Thanks to you both, any and all information is very helpful.
I think as a first race effort, if I have my "dream race, I’ll come in at less than 1hr 30min if I have my nightmare race, I’ll come in over 2 horus.
Hopefully sheer willpower will bring me to my goal. I have been training pretty hard, I think I should do OK…
So I finished my first sprint triathlon and I’m pretty proud of myself. I finished in 1:18:19, I won’t be winning any awards but I don’t care. I had fun and the weather was perfect.
About 2.5 years ago I was 255 lbs and pretty unhappy with myself.
Now I’m 205-207 and I’m psyched for my next race!
Thanks to all the guys/gals who help a newbie out!
