Hello, I am doing relatively long Z2 rides (3-4HR) on my trainer; even though intensity is not high and I am not a person who sweats a lot a chamosis still becomes wet and creates a lot of discomfort. My room is very cool I would say even chill. What is the solution? Is there any good ventilated bibs that are still comfortable for long rides?
Currently I ride in Castelli bibs that has castelli progetto x2 air seat pad, it becomes wet after first 40-50 min of the ride.

Stop peeing on the bike when riding indoors.
Do you have a fan? This can make a huge difference on sweat, even when the room is cool. It will help evaporate the sweat that you will be generating regardless of the temp.

I have two fans , one is in front and one blowing on my back and butt still doesn’t help.
I usually have a second pair of shorts ready to go and do a quick change around the half-way point for indoor rides that long. The added benefit is that my legs get a quick stretch and it’s a short mental break.
Not sure but I need to figure this out too as I recently got a saddle sore and think this is the cause. Usually haven’t done trainer rides over 2.5hr until recently.
My jakroo bibs/chamois get super wet but other pairs don’t (basically any other pair I own). Unfortunately my Jakroo bibs are my nicest for longer rides, outside of this issue. It’s definitely not airflow/effort based, it’s the type of material used by the bibs and/or chamois.
Pads are almost all open cell foam (i.e. sponges). I’d look at swapping bibs every 60min. Ride with bibs and a baselayer top (so the bib straps go over the baselayer for easy swaps.

I have a smaller fan that’s on the floor just behind my trainer and angled up so that its blowing right at the underside of my saddle. Doesn’t eliminate the problem, but it does seem to help…
Won’t help with the moisture but chamois cream helps so much with the comfort after a couple hours. I am a heavy sweater too and there are few thing worse than a wet chamois that is chafing like sandpaper!
Big fan (or fans) is the solution. In the winter my basement is cold, and I generally start longer rides with a shirt on - that usually comes off after 10-15 minutes as I warm up. I have a strong 20" industrial fan right in front of me and another wall mounted one behind me. In the summer I do get pretty sweaty, as humidity is also up. I have done the mid-ride bib change, but without good air flow, I’d be doing that ever 30 minutes or so.
No silver bullet here but all of the below will marginally help:
-changing bibs
-fans
-apply and re-apply chamois butter
-reduce humidity (dehumidifier/open window).
I’m debating whether to try a 3D saddle because its surface is porous and should provide slightly better ventilation than a flat surface saddle.
I think you will be happy with our chamois.

I change shorts 2-3 times for a long indoor ride. It doesn’t take long and it sure feels good.
Hey Kevin,
Many years ago, we became the first company to create a pads and cycling bibs actually designed to be worn when wet. After all, we swim, then bike, then run, right?
We offer a few which can be viewed here:

The photo is the Riviera Tribib. Notice that it comes up well over the navel. If have a gut or love handles, this bib hold them in. It also has a fly on it for easy bathroom relief. All these are innovations by us that make our Bibs so unique, in addition to the pad for aggressive saddle positions.
Happy to personally get you properly fitted. Just click on my email below.
