Long endurance bike race, Wheel advice request

I am competing for the 3rd time in a race across Iowa, west to east on October 3rd. It is 338 miles with about 8,500 feet of climb. Probably take about 22 hours.

The question is about aero vs low weight wheels.

The past two times I used my P3 with a Zipp 404 in the front and an 808 in the rear. Not carbon clinchers, the old aluminum brake surface models.

This year I am going to ride my 2008 Cervelo S2 (Soloist carbon).

I could use the same Zipps or use my Rolf Elan Aero wheels.

The Rolfs are very light but not deep profile.

Should I go light or go aero?

Thanks for time and attention.

I would go aero. IMO 8500’ of gain over 350mi is not significant gain. That being said, you’re he one who has done the race, not I. Even if there were a couple notable climbs the aero benefits will still outweigh the weight savings.

Thank you. I’ll put the 24mm tires on the Zipps and go aero.

The 25mm Vottorias fit with plenty of clearance.
