I’m thinking about trying to do both the bike tour and the 1/2 marathon this Sunday at the Long Beach Intn’l Marathon as a training workout. I basically want to do a 13 mile run this weekend as my last long run before the SOMA 1/2 at the end of this month, and I thought it would be less boring to do it in a race. I then saw that they also have a bike tour of the marathon course starting at 6 a.m. and then the 1/2 marathon starts at 7:30. Now, because I’m an idiot, I’m thinking about trying to do both as a long brick( I know it’s too long of a brick but I plan on doing the run really slow, Z1-2).
I’m wondering if anybody has tried this, I’m not a very fast cyclist but normally I would be able to make the 26.2 miles in an hour and a half without too much difficulty, but that’s on an open road. I’m thinking that maybe the course might have too many turns to finish in an hour and a half and then I’d miss the start of the run.
Thanks.
