No offense meant to any of the fabulous female Triathletes who post here, but I felt compelled to post this photo of Lokelani McMichael (sorry, PG-rated only). My sister pulled it from Elle magazine and was thrilled to save it for me. There is also a multi-page article for those who don’t care about the photos (all 2 of you ;-).
The article might be from the July '00 Elle according to this…
“WE’VE written about **Lokelani McMichael, **a five-time Ironman triathlete who appears on the current cover of Esquire as “One of America’s 10 Sexiest Athletes.” She was profiled last night on “Extra,” the TV magazine show seen locally on K-5, but on WNBC in New York and KNBC in L.A. The Hawaii athlete also appears in the July issues of Elle and Self magazines, and she’ll be doing her sixth straight Kona Ironman at the grand old age of 23 in October, and will doubtless get world-wide coverage both for her and the race itself …”
Good point. Great photography and nice art direction. It is nice to see athletes- male and female- depicted as fit and strong as well as attractive. The low perspective of this photo conveys that.
Bet she could get her fair share of offers to help wipe it off. Retouched photo or not. She just looks athletic…beach volleyball athletic and I think that she does tris is fantastic. Can’t speak for her personality but I’ve met very few people in the sport that I didn’t like…and if Cathy says she’s cool then who am I to argue. Sure is hard to get past her looks though (easier by the fact that she’d kick my ass so bad on the course that I’d only ever see her when she was on her way back).
OK, maybe this will work. This is definitely an unretouched photo from last year in New Zealand at the party at the IM Wetsuits Bar. I believe this is the evening I met Skid.
HAHAHA. Probably Tui, or maybe Specht. Skid was double-fisted that evening, if I recall. And really…I WAS BLINKING IN THIS PICTURE! Not to mention, this was a scant week prior to major surgery.
CLM, you know everyone in this sport on a first name basis. You should quite your day job and become an agent for pro triathletes with all your connections
