I just finished a great swim work out. I’m pumped and I’m hungry = irritable. After taking a shower, I put on my pants and sit down in front of my locker to dry my feet. All the lockers are double stacked and I’m using the lower locker. The locker room has about 100 lockers and there are a couple of other guys there.
As I’m bending forward to dry my feet, the perv comes in dressed in regular street clothes, stands directly in front of me…his ass about 2" from my face, opens the locker above mine and starts to remove his shirt.
ME: “Wow, Wow, Wow. What the f!# are you doing?" (Remember - 100 lockers, 3 people in the locker room including me and I’m hungry = irritable)
Perv: Looks at me with a blank expression on his face and continues to remove his shirt
ME: I stand up, put my hand on the locker door, slam it closed and yell "WHAT THE F&! ARE YOU DOING…GO FIND ANOTHER LOCKER” I’m pissed and ready to pound on this perv’s head.
Perv: “OH sorry” he steps back and acts like he’s going to wait for me to get dressed and leave.
Not sure what came over me next. A wave of calm, I removed all my stuff from the locker and went to the other side of the locker room.
Was I wrong to move my stuff? Should I have pounded on his head for a while? I’m torn!!! What would you have done?
I don’t get why you’re calling him a pervert. He probably uses the same locker every time he comes to the gym and turned his brain off. Yes, he should have gone somewhere else, but your reaction was a little over the top.
I was a lifeguard at my university for a few years, I constantly got complaints about some pervert but we were never able to figure out who it was or do anything about it.
One day, I was in the same zone as you are talkinga bout, I had finished a 7k swim workout, starving and very irratible.
I went to the showers, in the locker room, the showers are in a long row facing each other, nobody else was in the showers AT ALL, EMPTY…I took one in the middle of the row, I was facing the wall with my head under the water just relaxing.
I turned around and there was this fucker, old saggy guy totally naked in the shower right across from me with this creepy smile on his face…of all the empty showers, he took the one right across from me…I got pissed.
turns out, this was the guy and he had been doing this to people for years, we got him kicked out, from what I hear, he actually grabbed some dude in a local gym locker after his expulsion from the university pool.
this groping cost him his teeth on the floor of the locker…from what I hear.
Something like this happened to me . . .
I got through with some kind of yoga class where I did poorly. The reason I did poorly was because my joints suck because I am getting old, which is a reminder that I am going to die . . . and I was in pain. So, that gives my mindset.
So, I’m walking throught the shower and this guy is standing there staring at my dick as I walk by . . . never once looked anywhere else. I forgot my towel or something so I had to walk by him again. And again he stares. So when I go back to the shower and pass him the third time, he is still staring and I go up to him and I am about to shove his head through the fuckin’ wall and he says something to me . . . And he says it in a voice and in a manner that suggests he was not “altogether there” in the head. Like mentally retarded. So, I back off and life goes on.
I thought about that for a while and what could have happened. I could have been banned for the gym for life and the rest of them in my community and been placed in jail for assualt. The “pervert” would have a lifetime membership and a perhaps some amount of money from me and the gym.
Now, for the answers.
Was I wrong to move my stuff? No, you did the right thing. It’s not wrong to be upset, it IS wrong to use violence unless that is your only recourse.
Should I have pounded on his head for a while? I’m torn!!! No. You were not yourself. Because of exercise and perhaps other stuff, you almost made some uncharacteristically bad decisions. But you did not. Typically, you are an intelligent, peaceful person.
What would you have done? Hopefully, the next time this happens, I’ll do the same as you. WALK AWAY. The same as with dealing with problem drivers when running or cycling.
Don’t let the people you despise adversely affect your life. If you are going to be influenced by others, let those you admire inspire you to better yourself.
You seriously wanted to assault someone for standing too close to you? I understand being uncomfortable, but why wouldn’t you just move away and let it go? How do people live with that kind of anger? I don’t get it.
So what I am reading into this is you like to be on top.
Lockers can be a force of habit. I use the same one all the time, mainly because I also pay the gym monthly to rent the small one right above it so I don’t have to drag my flip-flops, and a bunch of other stuff back and forth.
Sadly, or greatly if that is your orientation, gym locker rooms are gay hook up spot. You think your encounter was disturbing, check out Craigslist some time and search on your gyms name and you will see in the personals tons of adds for “encounters” in the shower, sauna, or whirlpool… which after you see that, you wonder if you can ever even walk in the facility without stepping in to… well… hence why I over pay to keep my flip flops close at hand.
Sometimes people who protest too much are using that as a defense mechanism to hide their true feelings.
Not that there is anything wrong with it…

Yea, I’m glad that I walked away. There is just something about a mens’ locker room where you do NOT invade another man’s space under any circumstances.
