The fiancee’s lobster gloves are about done - 2 pairs each 10-15 years old held together by duct tape and hope. They’re leather and knit and she finds all new gloves inferior to these, so I want to try to find the closest possible matches.
The biggest issue is that it seems that all modern lobster gloves have a glove liner that gets all effed up when you pull your sweaty fingers out. Are there any out there where the liner is stitched to the outer so the inside is mitten-like (thumb hole, pinky/ring finger hole, middle/index finger hole) and doesn’t pull out?
My Pearl Izumis don’t have liners/separators, but they are fairly old and I’m not sure if they’ve changed the design recently. PIs are frickin’ expensive as hell, too, so probably not an optimal solution.
I have PI AmFibs (about 3 years old) and they have the glove-like inner. This is an item that falls in the category of “whatever it costs if it’s right”, but unless the lining has re-changed PI’s, unfortunately, aren’t the answer.
I bought my PI lobster gloves last year - they are what you are looking for - no individual finger liner - thumb, and then 2 fingers in each of the other sections.

That’s odd, the PI lobster gloves I bought last year have the finger liner.
Like the OP, I would like a version without the finger liner.
I really like the Assos lobster gloves. I use a pair of PP glove liners, a pair of light wool gloves and then the Assos. It keeps my fingers warm to the low 30’s, and I am very sensitive to cold.
I have a pair of Sugoi firewall gloves. Thumb, index finger, then one pocket for the last three. Rode yesterday for two and a half hours at 0C (32F) and my fingers were toasty warm. Love them!!
maybe it is where you got them? you got an older model? I got mine through LBS and they were out of my size so ordered them in…
Could you describe/show what they look like? Mine have the glove inner and are grey palmed with solid black back, just a small solid white P on the bottom outer wrist. They do not look like these: http://www.pearlizumi.com/product.php?mode=view&product_id=527528
That seems like a lot of gloves! I’m looking for a 1 glove solution. My PIs fit the bill in terms of warmth, but the inner glove is a non-starter for the fiancee.
It is, but they are all very thin. The 3 layers is far less bulky than a pair of single layer thick gloves. Furthermore, having layers allows you to adjust for varying conditions.
