Anyone have any ownership experience with Light Bicycle? I see they are offering a wheel similar to the Jet 180, and they also have quad spoke and tri spoke offerings.
I have several sets of their wheels. Build quality seems good, would happily buy from them again
Same. I have 4 wheelsets built by them and bought a pair of rims to lace to some old hubs. All have been great quality. Their build quality has been at least as good as anything I have had done locally. The new pace hubs are DT180/240ish clones. No complaints about anything from LB.
Shipping time to the USA is tough to guess. I bought two sets in the same transaction last November and one was there in 5 weeks and the 2nd set came around the 9 week mark (I chose cheaper, slower shipping by sea which easily accounts for ~3-4 of those weeks).
I have a set of their 50s on my road bike built with DT Swiss 240, rock solid for 3 years.
I have their newest tri spoke I use in Oceanside, solid wheel but will go back to my 858 front.
Have been riding their 65 turbos on my TT bike all spring and have been fast, stiff and fun to ride. These I built with their in house pace hubs.
Typical Chinese brand stuff: claim 820 grams and then have a photo of it on the scale weighing 1090g.
Unless they have a U.S. distributor you will probably be looking at high tariffs.
They could ship it with a low declared value through the post office and it would probably get through without any duty.
Hi, I have the Precision C21 Disc Wheel & while I can’t speak for the V-rims, the disc itself (bought made to order via Black Friday sale), has been amazing. So quiet, I call it my “Stealth Disc” because nobody can hear you coming it is that quiet. The ratchet in the hub is smooth and quiet, cornering has been excellent and is very true & stiff both laterally and vertically. I research the heck out of things before buying them usually, this was no different. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Light Bicycle. The cost to performance level is a no-brainer.
Coming from lifelong loyal ZIPP customer, I’ve had I believe 8 wheels in total from ZIPP, including 3 discs. 1 Corima 4 spoke and 1 Specialized “Tri Spoke”…but would not hesitate to buy Light Bicycle again. The first disc they had made, they sent pictures along the way of production and explanation of what stage they were at. When it did NOT pass their quality control for the final product, before shipping, they sent me a nice note saying they will have to remake the disc and there was a short delay. I got the UNPAINTED C21. They couldn’t get the “swirly” stickers to adhere to the disc, and wondered if it was ok to ship with a tiny different Light B. logo (which was fine, I like the black stealth look better than the sticker anyhow. If you want more information), P.M. me, because since the new S.T. forum, I am not on here nearly as much as I used to.
Lastly, is does it perform in races? Flawlessly so far. Tubeless set up.
