Life Time Fitness Tri

Is it going to be televised same day this year? I can’t find any links to any tvcoverage on the www.ltftriathlon.com website…

I saw it on TV on Sat. I want to say it was NBC but can’t remember. Edit- pretty good coverage

edit again—I watched escape from alcatraz not Lifetime fitness. My bad

I dunno about that but are they not doing the equalizer this year?

I’m gonna be up there and was looking at start times and it looks like the women are going 3 mins after the men.

Grant

I heard a rumor that it was not going to be televised this year.

Not sure if it is LTF, but I think NBC is televising 1 hour of tri coverage Sunday afternoon at 2pm. I was programming all the TDF shows into my DVR and noticed the scheduled 1 hour coverage. It might be the Des Moines ITU race though.

It’s not being televised this year, Hy-Vee will be on NBC instead. Also, there is no Equilizer format for LTF as well…

This will be my first Tri this year, and the first ever in my life. I’m so excited I can’t get any work done. I’m definitely getting caught up in all
of the pre race hype, and it’s only Monday.

Good luck! Have a blast.

Yes, NBC is supposed to be televising it “almost” live (about 1-3 hours later if I remember). Didn’t know about the no equalizer time this year - so, male/female winners splitting the pot then? Still, $500,000 is a good chunk to split

I have a pro acquaintance that got an invite (only 22 men I think) and I’ll be routing for him - he could use the money!

No, the race is not being televised this year.

What one are you doing. I’ll be doing the long course. Gotta make up for last year when i couldn’t swim or run… now i can only kinda swim and run but yeah it will be a big improvement.

Grant

what about winners people? who is going to win lifetime without the equalizer being a factor?

Yes my bias would be for david thompson, but at same time Craig Walton must be hungry for this one after losing out on winning on the run before he got sick and took a break - plus kemper and alexander could aways repeat… As far as the women…actually it is just so hard to pick a winner! too many good pros - lavelle or emma, maybe fernandez, bennett post-hyvee 4 hrs away? gosh!

anyways I think I posted somewhere else the lineup but her it is again in case u missed it:

women:
Bennett, Laura (AUS) Carfrae, Mirinda (AUS) Dibens, Julie (UK) Dillon, Michelle (UK) Fernandes, Vanessa (POR) Haskins, Sarah (USA) Hill, Rina (AUS) Lavelle, Becky (USA) Luxford, Annabel (AUS) McGlone, Samantha (CAN) McLarty, Sara (USA) Shapiro, Margie (USA) Snowsill, Emma (AUS) Sweetland, Kirsten (CAN) Taylor, Pip (AUS) Zeiger, Joanna (USA)

dudes:
Alexander, Craig (AUS) Bennett, Greg (AUS) Cunningham, Richie (AUS) Docherty, Bevan (NZL) Gemmell, Kris (NZL) Gomez, Javier (ESP) Griffin, Leon (AUS) Hackett, Stephen (AUS) Henning, Rasmus (DEN) Johns, Andrew (GBR) Kemper, Hunter (USA) Ospaly, Filip (CZE) Pais, Bruno (POR) Polikarpenko, Vladymyr (UKR) Rana, Ivan (ESP) Reed, Matt (USA) Robertson, Peter (AUS) Thompson, David (USA) Thompson, Simon (AUS) Tollakson, TJ (USA) Walton, Craig (AUS) Whitfield, Simon (CAN)
on the amateur side I am def hoping that our local Curt Wood comes out on top and that kathy y. repeats

Now its kinda boring its 250k for the men 250k for the women and it rolls down to the 20 or something. Theres nothing on the site about why they got rid of the equalizer.

Grant

Haskins, McLarty, and maybe Sweetland? won’t be there…Pan-American games instead.

Prize purse is a TOTAL of $250,000 between the men and the women, with the winners each getting $60,000 and rolling down to the top 10 for each gender.

shit yeah sorry its late. What he said lol.

Grant

I’m not sure who’s coming in to give Curt some competition, but he’ll definitely be in the lead for awhile at least! Cathy Y. ought to repeat…she’s racing faster than ever this year. Must be those Newtons she’s been wearing…

I’m only doing the short course. I wanted to do the long course, but the President of our company who sponsors our team talked me
out of it since it was my first race. The distance isn’t the problem for me, but he said I need to learn the basic fundamentals of transition
before I move up to the longer races. I think he is just scared that I might have a faster time and make him look bad in front of his friends,
family, and coworkers.

Interesting… considering the transition is in the same area. DOn’t see how transition has anything to do with anything.

Grant

That makes no sense. The longer the race, the less important a truly speedy transition is.

So, you may be right…

Steve

I was just thinking that. My sprint last weekend they were about 2 percent of my race. In olympic they’d only be about 1 percent. So i don’t know whyd it make more of a difference. Besides any idiot can transition fast. I can and im a pretty big idiot.
