Life Insurance / Hazardous Activities

Thinking about getting a life insurance. Do you know if cycling and triathlon are considered as “hazardous activities or occupations”? What is your experience? Thanks

Nah. That would be for skydiving, auto racing, etc.

Mike

My experience has been that it is not hazardous. My insurance guy listed a bunch of things that they consider “hazardous” (skydiving, scuba diving, hang gliding, rock climbing,… ) and asked me if I participated in any of them. Triathlon wasn’t on the list so I just said “no” without elaborating.

If anything, telling them that I “regularly exercise including swimming, running and cycling” led to lower rates not higher.

Nope, you will be fine.
Although 6-7 years ago the company I worked for got a ‘Key Employee’ policy on me and at the time I was into skydiving. I actually had enough jumps and a high enough certification that it was an increase in the premium but they still insured me. I know the boss bitched a little about the increased cost, but that was about it. Had I only had a few jumps or hadn’t been rated as high I think I would have been denied.

Thanks all! Just need to get my cholesterol tested now!

Wouldn’t sitting on my ass be more hazardous?
