Any good? Local gym is selling.
The gym I used to go to had both Precor and Life Fitness and I liked them both. Life Fitness commercial treadmills are very strong/sturdy and would definitely consider it if it’s available.
I did like Precor a little better (for no specific reason) so we ended up buying one of those. When we bought ours, we took into account cost + condition. The gym we bought ours from cleaned the treadmill, serviced the machine and installed a new motor on all treadmills. The motors also came with a 30 year warranty. We bought ours from a gym in South Carolina and had it shipped to Idaho for free. Out the door we paid 2,499.00. Three years later and it’s still running strong. The buying/shipping was a slight pain and I get nervous when I buy sight unseen.
If you can inspect the machine before you buy, not have to be concerned with shipping and it’s a good price, I’d jump on it. I love having a legit gym/commercial treadmill in my garage.
Lastly, one huge thing to to consider, commercial units sometimes run a different outlet. I’m not an electrician but I think a standard outlet is 10amps (correct me if I’m wrong) and my Precor needed a 20amp dedicated outlet.
Ty. I didn’t even think of the outlet. Price is really good and not far from my house. Gold’s gym that went out! Plan on checking one out this weekend. Advertising says in great working order but that all I no
I just received a Life Fitness treadmill from a gym but haven’t put it together yet (I took it apart to move it, holy crap they’re heavy!).
I bought an adapter for my outlet on Amazon that will work. Also not an electrician but the person that got the other treadmill pulled it off although I don’t know about his electrical service.
We got a used Life Fitness 95TE off Facebook for $300 and it’s a tank. It must weigh 400 lbs. So ridiculously solid and gets up to 12 mph which is plenty. Absolutely love ours from coming from a cheap fold-able ProForm that I barely trusted at 5 mph.
I use a commercial precor, it’s wonderful. Find the book for that model, there should be a way to show hours. Slide your hand under the belt to see how the deck is doing, many commercial units have a flip able deck, so check the back side too. If it runs on 220 you need a new line from the panel box. Check ceiling height too, it might be taller than you expect. Get a good Dolly and remove the console, you may need a helper and a truck or trailer.
i’m certainly no expert, but have purchased a couple hundred LF Elevation and Integrity commercial units from 2015-2018. I’ve also used them quite a bit. My experience is they are incredibly robust and easily handle heavy use. I’m 6’4", 190-210 and these things don’t move under me no matter how fast I want to run. I’ve found the equivalent models of other brands (Precor included) tend to noticeably bounce and/or stick at least a little bit. The worst thing about them was their customer service. Parts take forever and their own techs cover vast amounts of territory. Even if you use a local tech they still have to get OEM parts from LF and that always seemed to be an issue. Yearly or every other year basic maintenance (you or local non-LF tech) and they should last forever for personal use.
they tend to hold their value well so don’t be surprised if the clearance price isn’t quite as discounted as other brands.
We have a LF one that was a floor model from a now closed shop that sold various fitness equipment. I think it is probably 12-13 years old and other than a few services it runs great. (Obviously they have much newer nicer models now). We have put many miles on it . Would buy again!
