After two weeks most range of motion is back and no pain sitting there
EXCEPT: Transverse Abduction. Can’t even come close to lifting the weight of my own arm still, can’t come close to more than say a 45 degree angle like in the pic and a sharp pain in the joint when moving only in that direction.
PS: I’m going to an ortho on monday but was curious what you all think.
Dont have alot to go on as far as specifics of injury. With that said, speaking to abduction the primary movers are posterior deltoid, teres minor, infraspinatus. So you mentioned crash and Im guessing landed pretty hard on shoulder. Could be just a strain, a tear. A severe crash and it could have damaged the rotator cuff
What about other movements of the shoulder?? Flexion, extension and external/internal rotation. Can you move in those directions with pain or cant move in them at all?
Left ankle, shin, hip, arm down and hit on back of shoulder/scapula, then head. I’m trying to replay mentally but there was a solid blunt hit on the back of the shoulder. When I feel around there is no pain in my back. There is some pain deep in my shoulder joint when I press. The stabbing pain is really localized to that transverse abduction.
I had an RC injury last year…It was the supraspinatus. Funny thing was I had very few symptoms. I had full range of motion and strength. It would just pop and crack and get sore when I swam. Docs didn’t think I had a tear then I got a second opinion with an MRI and thee it was, a tear of the supraspinatus. If I was over 60 I would have said screw it. Surgery on Nov 30th and I’m not 100% yet. I have about 80% of range of motion and full strength isn’t back yet. I’m waiting until fall to begin lifting weights again. By far, the worst surgery I’ve ever had to rehab for and most say the same thing. I’d do knees any day of the week over a shoulder.
Surgery went fine, but despite PT taking my sling off at day 6 to do passive ROM exercises I still started to get frozen shoulder. They had to put me on prednisone to get the inflammation down enough to start breaking up the scar tissue. Sleep was non existent. I averaged about 4 hours per night. You will need to sleep in a recliner for a long time. It got to the point where I had the doc gave me ambien to sleep. Not trying to scare you but these are some of the things that can happen. You may not have any problems!
