So got home from my ride today and was greeted with a swarm of Africanized bees who parked themselves outside the front door. Was not able to complete my brick run as we were instructed not to leave the house until they were professionally removed. Had a great post-ride nap though.
A category five hurricane literally took the house and my bike away… so I started drinking rum and wondering where to start cleaning up… found the bike though

Got me beat there. I am assuming you weren’t in the house at the time.
I feel like shit, don’t wanna train and just got back into bed.
=p
No, but my f-ing bike was… after the wife said it was the better one of four homes to put the baby in. Lost the house (duplex) and everything in it, found the bike and one bike shoe under some rubble- should have taken a photo for the guys at Kestrel, would have made a great ad for the strength of their Carbon frames- taking a Cat5 and three tidal waves with a house falling down, and I am still riding it. MissedIMFL as a result, but there you go- but you boys are setting me up with a nice new ride anyway so everything is sweet thnks to insurance

Weeman! Good to see you posting again!
The worst of Ivan went about 50 miles west of me, and we only had one tree land on our garage, but I still missed a couple training days because we were under a 24 hour curfew so they could deal with an entire power grid’s worth of possibly live eletrical wires that had come down everywhere.
Yeah, we had the curfew thing for a few months too, so evening runs were outas were the early rides- also there was limited food and water for a few weeks so it was tough to train and not get nutrition and hydration. BUT we are back training again for Vineman and IMFL, just too hot now though.
You racin this year?

How can anyone possibly post an excuse after yours. Yours has got to be the best by far. Well, perhaps something like “I started out on my swim workout in a crocodile infested lake. My nuts got bitten off within the first 10 metres so I decided to call it a day” would beat yours. Anyone in slowtwitch that have had their nuts biten off by a crocodile? Ozzies perhaps?
Gulf Coast next Saturday. Swim’s good, run’s good, but I ended up way behind on bike training so it’ll be interesting.
We got lucky where I live. Go even 25 miles further west, and it was a hella mess. I’ve got coworkers still fighting the insurance companies because the wind insurer says storm surge destroyed the house, the flood insurer says wind got the house, and you can’t prove either way because all that was left on September 16 was a concrete slab.
Panama City Beach came through well. Just a little bit of beach erosion, and some problems with tornadoes.
