Any recommendations on leg/knee warmers that actually stay up? I am looking for some for cyclocross. I have tried three different kinds – nike, pearl izumi and assos. The assos warmers are made well and have nice material, but have no gripper sections to keep them in place. I think they all must suck.
my mec leg warmers have grips but are definitely a bit loose if I’m standing, my defeets kneekers are comfy but definitely would not stay up during cyclocross either. I think you should just wear bibjohns.
My Hinds stay up. That sounds weird when you say it out loud.
I have the defeet and they may work…You’d have to wear them high. I got mine for 10 bucks so it wouldn’t be too risky of an investment. Also, you could just go to an ice hockey store and get a garter for them. Never lost a hockey sock that way :).
just wear a pair of full length spandex over your bike shorts.
I have Sugoi, PI, and Perfomance brand ones that all have elastic and all stay up. You are putting the leg warmer under your bike shorts right?
My Sugoi’s stay up on my girlie-man quads.
I use Nike and Giordano - I like both - with both you have to pull the leg warmers up pretty high but I like the zipper on the back and the thin fleece lining underneath. The Nike knee warmers aren’t as good unfortunately and tend to fall down. Girodano knee warms are pretty good, but long.
Yes, I put them on under bib shorts.
Anyone tried these? Note the gripper is on the outside, so it grips your shorts, not your leg – interesting idea…

I’ve been using a bunch of different ones trying to find a pair that don’t suck.
I’ve found the fix tho, give the specialized body geometry leg warmers a try. The stitching is awesomed and the panels are shaped. The sticky top (clear urethane?) works really well, better than the exposed elastic loops. Best warmers I’ve found yet.
Don’t want to sound like I’m stating the bleeding obvious but …
Have you shaved/buzzed your legs?
Leg warmers stay up easier if they’ve got bare skin to cling to. I’m having problems with mine due to putting on some winter insulation.

I have some Craft knee warmers that I really like. They have some kind of gripper on the top of the leg–silicone, maybe? Whatever it is, they stay up really well on me.
Yep, always buzzed. I think it maybe makes it worse, stubble would probably grip better.
Shave everything.
I use the cheap Performance ones. I even run in them sometimes.

I have the peral izumi fleece lined leg warmers. I don’t have any problems with mine staying up;plus they are nice and warm.
I have a pair of Assos that are finally beginning to die this season…they’re 12 years old and they’ve served me well. Assos gear is expensive but worth it.
The Sugoi leg warmers have leg grippers and work well.

QOLEUM embrocation works much better than knee warmers, its waterproof and comes in 3 “heats” mild, medium, hot…just like salsa.
If it cool enough for kneewarmers, not cool enough for full tights then a really good embrocation is th ebest way to go, and it will never slide down.
True! I love Qoleum. I have both Medium and Hot. Forecast for the cyclocross race this weekend is partly cloudy, low 13, high 24 F. Too cold for Qoleum, I don’t care how hot the formulation is.
I guess I should just go for the full tights and maybe even some booties and lobster gloves.
Of the three or four brands I’ve tried over the years, I’ve been happiest with the DeFeet Kneekers.
