Anybody uses something that’s similar to the Pearl Izumi Sun Sleeves, but for the legs?
I know De Soto makes one, does anyone have experiences with it? The reviews for their arm coolers states that they stretch out over time.
Thanks in advance.

Your legs get that hot?
more for the sun protection as i don’t trust anything they put into sun screens.
my arms get pretty tanned from rides & i’m afraid to get sun burned even though i’ve gotten burned only once in my life
also, do i have to get the colored ones to get sun protection?
I never noticed my DS arm coolers stretching and I even use them in the swim. I do a bike/swim/bike and don’t remove them for the swim.
I’d love a leg cooler. The arm coolers are great in the AZ heat. Leg coolers would help alot too I think. I was thinking about leg coolers the last time I was biking in the heat. I don’t go out without the arm coolers on or a Craft long sleeve cooler top.
Like all DeSoto skincooler products they work great(cooling). As for streching I have not had an issue, my wife and I both use them. We don’t just train/race in the SC products, anything that gets us out in the sun. I’ve had 6 or 7 skin ca in the last six years.
I turned one of my co workers on to the arm coolers to cover his ink at work. He wears them 12hrs a day 3x a week no problems with streching.

I question the cooling effect of fabrics that are wrapped around your bare skin. We evolved to sweat for direct evaporation - putting a fabric layer on top will likely decrease that airflow evaporative effect.
That’s why they cool better when wet.
i believe they used to be marketed as ‘arm warmers’

Even when wet, the fibers are getting in the way of the airflow to a huge extent, and likely dramatically slowing the airflow immediately at the skin contact point, which is where you want it the highest for max cooling.
My DeSoto arm “coolers” stretched out badly and I threw them away this year … but they lasted for 3 years. I’m fine by that.
I seriously don’t understand why they are called arm coolers … because I get seriously warm if I leave them on after temps get up to about 85 degrees F. I use them as light arm warmers and sun blockers. When I get hot, spraying water on my bare skin is much more effective in cooling me down. I can’t imagine how hot leg “coolers” would be, but I certainly wouldn’t wear them. I live in AZ so heat here is not 75 degrees like for some … I personally would not call any of these things as coolers when it gets hot.

It’s called marketing.
If they really worked as effective coolers, we’d have seen them long ago worn by pros at every hot bike/run race. It’s not like this ‘technology’ is some newfangled innovation - white lycra has been around for decades.
Lets put the cooling thing aside. The main reason my wife and I wear them is for sun protection.
My wife got some cool wings back in 07 for sun protection. She was doing a half and she burns in the shade, they worked great.
We absolutely need this product. Triathletes are not silly-looking enough.
Anyone who would wear such a thing should never be allowed to have sex again. I suspect that rule would be unneccessary.

Agree completely … thats why I use them. I put sun block underneath them because when it gets too hot to wear them I still have sun protection … just not as much.
