Politics and religion are more interesting than talking about triathlons. We never really change anyone’s mind but it’s fun trying and at the end of the day, I think we realize it’s all meant in fun and we all have an opportunity to learn others views.
I know I love coming here to see different perspectives, most of the time they are some that I would never think of, and that’s a good thing.
I also think most people don’t want to talk about religion and politics so there are few places to go to get relatively civil discussions from so many perspectives. I know I can’t discuss these issues with my wife, or most of my friends, they’re just not interested.
That whole mafia thread was quite odd. Strangely enough, all I kept thinking was if there is a ST mafia, I want to be in it. Then again, maybe I am in it already. I think I might have been a little mean to the girl that accidently ran a full marathon and also to the girl that triggered her eating disorder after she bought the scale the purports to measure body fat. Oh, and in the LR, I sometimes have mean thoughts about Vitus:) Well, if I’m a member, what are the perks? Can I call myself “wise girl”? Do I get a t-shirt? I will say, though, that I’m a completely non-violent person, so if it involves violence, I’ll have to resign.
I agree. I have lurked here for a long time and just worked up the courage to start posting recently. The LR self regulates probably because you guys have posted here for a long time and know each other a little better.
The main forum is akin to race day with a take no prisoners approach. Sometimes though it is a little scary over there.
I would suggest referees but that thread got crazy too…
No one knows who the guy is. He is/was using anonymous IP software and opened the ST account just for that idiotic post. I’m sure it’s someone who is still posting as his usual username. Some think it’s Swimfan. Whoever he is, he’s extremely uptight. Who knew? Type A’s in triathlon? Never!
Lasted about an hour. Typical F all you people in your cliques type thread, especially directed at ironclm. Some kind of reference to a “slowtwitch mafia.”
Good for a laugh, I imagine. From her postings, I imagine Cathy has made more than a few people “sleep with the fishes”…wait, what does that mean on this forum?
