Las Vega Strip Hotel Lap Pool

Anyone have a recommendation for a lap pool for swimming while in Vegas? I’m staying there the week before St. George and wouldn’t mind getting in a last long pool swim before heading to the lake. Also, any idea of water temperature this year for the race (cold or colder)?

I remember staying at the Paris, and they had something like one 40yd long lane in the middle of the pool. Worked out ok as the lifeguard kept the kids out of it. Also i just stayed at the Venetian, and they had one pool that was about 28 yards, just had to figure out how to turn on a step. The Trump also has about a 30yd pool for laps. That’s all i know as far as hotels, but frank lowrey runs a triathlon program with masters swim in town, just google it for times…

I usually stay at the Palazzo, and the last time I was there my room overlooked the pools at the Venetian. I remember seeing people swimming laps in the morning. There were even black lines on the bottom for you to follow FWIW. Not sure how long it was, but looked pretty decent.

my .02 – good luck.

To expand on what Monty said, Franks Masters class is Mon, Wed, Fri @ 5:30 am at the Multi Generational center in Henderson. The Multi Gen has the pool set up on long course Tues & Thurs from 5am to 11:30 am.

Pool at UNLV might be a posssibility.

When I first read your subject, I thought you were looking for strip lap pools. THAT would be fun. ;0

Paris has a good pool - It’s an odd-shaped pool with one lane marked out running straight across the middle of the pool. Like Monty said, about 40 yards. Only note here is that you aren’t allowed to swim if there’s no lifeguard, and the lifeguards aren’t there until mid-morning, and later in the day - because the lane runs right across the pool, it can get crowded. No black line on the pool bottom. It’s also very cool that you’re swimming under the Eiffel Tower and can see the Bellagio fountains from the pool…

Another good pool is PH Westgate Towers, although I think Hilton may have just bought this property, so not sure what it’s called now. It’s tucked in right behind Planet Hollywood. Rectangular pool, 30+ yards - can’t remember the exact length, but it was outstanding to swim laps in. No lifeguard required, but go early as this is a relatively social pool. Translated: it gets really busy later in the day.

The Flamingo had a couple of lanes set up in the early mornings last time I was there. Looked to be pretty close to 25 yards.

Well, any other time no black lines and crowds would bother me, but, since it’s the last swim before an Ironman start that almost sounds like perfect training.

When I was last in Vegas, I swam at Desert Breeze. A little bit of a haul from the Strip, but it’s a nice facility. Has both long/short course setup depending on the time you swim and the hours are fairly flexible.

I am heading out next week and plan to hit up the Henderson Multi-Gen on Tuesday (24-Apr). I’ve never been there but some good things are written about it on this forum. I called and they seem really open to people dropping in and it only costs $2.

The best facility on the strip is the Muni pool (Well, technically it’s like 100y off-strip). It’s what I use everytime I’m in Vegas (inlcluding this week):

50m pool, though, usually configured in SC. Just be sure to check the times with them and a phone call, sometimes they’re funky to accomadate swim teams.

I’ve never used the Muni pool, but it looks like a good choice if you are staying on the middle to the north end of the strip.

I’d probably still go to the Henderson Multigen if you are staying on the south end (Tropicana on down).

Desert Breeze is nice too.

All three of these do LC occasionally but I’m not sure of the times except the Multigen (T and TH 5-11:30)

All the pools in Vegas are pretty funky for times because of swim teams, and things get even weirder if the schools are on break.

When I lived in Vegas, I usually swam at the Henderson Multi Gen center. They have a very nice outdoor lap pool. It’s not too far from the Strip (you will need to drive) and very clean. The LV Muni pool on the Strip is ok, but can be a little sketchy because of the downtown location.

The Student Recreation and Wellness Center at UNLV has a 6 lane pool that anyone can use for a fee. I looked into this for an upcoming trip, but haven’t been yet. It’s less than a mile east of Bellagio.

The guest pass is $10/day or $25 for a 30 consecutive day pass.

When I spoke to them the hours were:
M-F 6:30 til 11
Sat 8:30 til 9
Sun12:30 til 11
