Lap Pool Swim options Near Microsoft Campus Redmond WA

I’ll need to go to Redmond WA first week of Sep. Do you guys have any suggestion for a pool that would be open between 5:30 and 8 am that I can do lap swim at? Bonus for outdoor, double bonus for 50m long course. Anything that would make commuting in a rental car after swim to MSFT campus would be good.

Pro Sports club is across the street from MS on 148th St. They have lap pools. Microsofties are given membership there as part of their benefits package. Can you score a few guest passes? That’d be your best bet.

Gold’s Gym in Redmond has a pool. Mentioning them because most triathletes in Redmond swim there. It’s a couple of miles from the campus though.

Redmond has a municipal pool. Never been so don’t know their hours.

Best pool in the immediate area, IMO, is Bellevue Aquatic Center, just a mile or so down the street from Microsoft. But they open at 8. Also municipal pool. Pay for one time lap swim and you are in.

Those are all 25y pools.

There are a number of private club pools in the area, Samena, Bellevue Country club, and others, but you need to be a member.

Further out, we are still talking same area so just a few miles, Juanita High School in Kirkland and St Edwards State Park also in Kirkland. Kirkland has a municipal outdoor 25y pool downtown but the water is like bath water. Very unpleasant to lap swim.

Want 50m? You’ll need to drive. King County Aquatic center in Federal Way (about 30 miles) is a world class Olympic pool. 8 lanes 50m with seating for thousands.

Finally my favorite. Colman Pool in West Seattle. About 20 miles away. Outdoor 50m salt water pool right on the shore of Puget sound with the view of Olympic mountains.

+1 for Bellevue Aquatic Center. They have a masters group at noon to 1 or 1:30pm, if you can make that work. It is indoor but it has 8 lanes and a skylight which is nice.

Samena has some really early morning tri group in their outdoor pool. 5 or 6am if I recall. Ask them about Swim 4 Tri, or check with VO2 Multisport for details.

Edit: tri group at Samena is pay as you go now; you don’t need a membership.

adding a plus one for Bellevue Aquatics center - they charge USD7 per day for their open swim times. (http://www.ci.bellevue.wa.us/aquatic_fees.htm)
Pro Sports is right across the street - and you could score a guest pass for that - but their pools are incredibly busy in the particular time you are looking at. I swim at Golds, and personally prefer the one in Issaquah (about 5 miles away) than the one in Redmond just because of how not murky it is. Golds is also probably the easiest to get a one week guest pass for.
All of the above are 25yd pools.

50m pools exist but they are all the way over in Seattle.

Also going downhill on 40th St. from Microsoft, you’ll practically run into Idylwood Park on Lake Sammamish. Triathletes swim the buoy line there early sometimes. I’d suggest 6am or so, before the waterskiiers get going.

Yep if you want OWS this is the best option. Lake temperature right now is 76F. Don’t need to pack a wetsuit. We are having a heat wave next few days so water may be warmer by the time you get here.

All previous mentions are spot on. A couple more to think about. Score a room at the Hotel Bellevue - part of the Bellevue Club. Best pools around other than Colman in the summer. If you mention MSFT connection, you might be able to score a nice rate. And if OWS is option, go to the secret dock in Medina - Viewpoint park is official name. Close in to shore swimming and there will be other swimmers out there. Head S/SE from dock and go into Meydenbauer Bay. If you go north, you will hit weeds.
