I’m a Lance fan, but did anyone else think his Boston marathon outfit was ridiculous? Just think about how much faster he could have run if he wasn’t wearing those NBA-style skirt-shorts flapping around his knees.

i love them…use them for all runs (except transition runs). what model shoe was he wearing?
Its all about the bike.
Nike has tried to persuade him to wear shorter run shorts, but he’s pretty adamant that he likes the long ones…
I am curious why do you think running with shorter shorts would make a difference?
I don’t like that style of shorts for running as well, but to be honest I don’t think it will make a second difference.
I agree. they only make you “feel” faster.
It’s almost like he’s trying to make up for all those years in lycra.
Agreed. I love running in split shorts because I feel like they give my legs a greater range of motion. They don’t really, but it’s nice to have that feeling.
I suppose one could argue about the weight of the shorts, especially when they get sweaty and wet. But my biggest objection to long shorts is that they look silly.
I used to hate those but recently i tried zoot running shorts. they are slightly baggier than traditional race shorts and very different waist line without and drawstring. Now I only run in them, i didn’t like the ultra model with the compression shorts built in but the other model is the best short I’ve ever tried. They are a bit baggy but they do not feel baggy at all.
Does anybody remember the Tinley article from years ago where he had a bad day at a marathon? The further he went back in the pack the longer the shorts got. At the back of the pack it was basically cargo shorts with pockets full of cell phones, keys, wallets, etc. It was great stuff. I guess Lance is the exception, but it’s still pretty funny.
Yes, Lance’s outfit was something else. WAY too many “Go Lance” posters out here in Boston today. Another question - where was ex-Mrs. (Kristin) Armstrong? She was signed up today… I may lose sleep wondering what I’ll ever read about in next month’s Runner’s World.
Also, on the fab topic of charity runners… anyone else out there notice the “runners” with the royal blue T-shirts with “Nobles” printed on the front?! They were pathetic! I don’t know what charity they were supporting, but there were many out there and received many cheers. People who raise $879423 for a good cause is one story, BUT… not only did this group NOT HAVE NUMBERS, but they started at the front of the first wave and were running 4+ across the course at a snail’s pace! What a charity… puts their runners out there to BANDIT the race - and get in the way of people who are actually moving in a forward direction. Unreal.

Somebody in Austin correct me if I am wrong, but here’s the pic of the winner of this year’s Cap 10K. For those not in Austin, this race is huge and brings out some of the best.

Wow!!! Anyone else think this was strange…interviewed by your ex-wife…“How do you feel about Heartbreak…Hill!!” Feel the tension…

That guy in boardshorts was way way fast. The capital 10k draws out a lot of people, but its not a race you do for a PR… the first 5k is stupid steep up and down hills.

she still wants him…she’s being a little flirty ![]()
Hello yummy mummy

Maybe they hide his cycling shorts better. You all know how hard it is to change a piece of gear once you are used to it.
Or maybe the “Mr. Millimeter” name wasn’t actually referring to his OCD bike setup…
I agree I was more interested in the nike shoe model he was wearing…anyone know?

The guy who won the Rock Cut trail 10k in Rockford, IL last January wore baggy shorts and socks pulled up to his knees. He ran 39:something. It was hilly, a few inches of snow, -13 w/ -30 or so wind chill. Um, I have no point… LOL
Running with a wallet and keys would suck- I wonder why people just don’t get annoyed?
I’d secretly like to try splits, but no one wants my ass hanging out, least of all my wife.
