I’m sure you all have heard or read all about it so I don’t need to bore you with the details, but we were fortunate to be able to attend the grand opening Saturday and then the VIP party Saturday night so I thought I’d post a few pics here and you can check out the rest on our blog (which I have fixed to now show all the shots… hopefully!):
And for Paulo and the other Slowtwitchers… the one and only Desire Ficker:
And a little tidbit from Lance himself:
One of the things not in the write-ups about the shop was the meaning of the name of the coffee shop in the store, Juan Pelota. It’s a play on words for “one ball”… self explanatory
LOL… we’re far from VIP’s… just know the right peeps
On a triathlon note, I got to visit with James Bonney on his recent IMAZ race which he led for 98% of the race. After coming so close in IMNZ and IMAZ… he’s due a win soon! Super nice guy, and married to Liz Kreutz, Livestrong and Discovery Team photographer. Liz told me earlier that he might be switching from Litespeed to a locally-built bike… I just forgot who it was… not Crumpton… had an Italian-sounding name.
I didn’t even pay attention to that, but as far as I recall Lance has never ridden very low in the front… on either his TT bikes or road bikes… but I’ll post the pics shortly!
He’s not using the Trek wireless bike computer, but rather some wired version that doesn’t take advantage of the sensor pocket on the fork.
The Madone is only partially internally cabled routed. Maybe it’s me, but it seems odd that the rear brake cable is the only cable internally routed. Or maybe I am smoking crack, who knows…
And also, the Disco labels didn’t come on that Madone, unless it is one from last year. The redesign of the Madone is new for this year. The ones we have in our shop look like the one in the background, whit and place with red
