I’m curious, what’s the Olympic bike course like? I heard the bike is technical and can be dangerous.
Thanks,
IDK. Seems like a safe enough course to me. Hilly, more than average amount of corners maybe, but nothing I would call dangerous. If you are in long course you might have to deal with some crowds if you are passing short course athletes. Just don’t ride with your head down for long. There is no two-way bike traffic so that should help. More than enough hills to string it out.
I live 5 minutes from there and ride solo all the time in the area. Never have had a concern. Police presence is high on the course. Not sure it is much different than any other course. While they have changed the course a bit, it is always run fairly well.
yeah, it’s really nothing to worry about. If you’re worried about being too technical, use a road bike instead of a TT/Tri bike.
hey Scott, you racing it this year?
No I am racing AG Nationals and then focusing on running into the fall. You never know I could change my mind. There are a few fall triathlons I have been looking at.
Thanks for the information!
Here’s the map of the bike course. there is a turn around, and a couple of hair-pin turns. Also, what cbritri said, you’ll run into short course traffic on your second lap.
