Lake placid TT routes?

Heading up to Lake Placid with the family in a few weeks and bringing the TT bike along for the fun.

I know I can ride the Ironman course and also ride up Whiteface Mountain.

Wondering if anyone has any other favorite rides in the area, especially for a TT bike?

Related, Strava heat maps are amazing for finding good routes. Any tips / tricks for choosing between those especially with a TT bike in mind? (If that’s a silly question, forgive me)

In case you are in town on the 18th, here you go:

Here is a route I like. You ride out the Ironman Course to Keene and turn right and go towards Keene Valley. You can ride that route all the way to Highway 87 and just retrace you route and come back up the Keene climb. Alternative, ride to upper Jay and turn left (rather than right) and that road will take you to Wilmington and then turn left there and come back via the Ironman route.

You can lengthen this ride and do the out and back on the old IMLP course from Wilmington on Hasleton road (that adds 20km), or you can do the 13km up and down whiteface climb (that adds 26 km but depending on how fast you climb 1-1.5 hrs climb and 20 min descent). Or you can leave LP and ride down to Wilmington, turn left, climb Whiteface and ride down and turn right at Wilmington and ride back to LP through High Falls Gorge (return leg of IMLP course).

Also most people training for IM never do this, but I would recommend timing at least ONE ride to come back to LP via high falls gorge around 1 hrs before sunset. The sun will settle behind Whiteface mountain just as you are climbing through the gorge with the rushing water of the Ausable river beneath your right shoulder.

I would also say most roads in LP area are fine on TT bike. It’s not like you will be doing switchback descents of Alpe d’Huez so you will be fine on anything in the region.
