Thank you.
I’ve begun by email. They, a dealer of theirs is only 50 miles away from me.

Good luck. From my experience I wouldn’t touch a Kuota with a bargepole.

I have seven mates including my Brother-in-Law who bought Kuota’s from our LBS (Bikeforce, Fremantle, Western Australia). They were new to Australia, trendy, Norman had done some pretty amazing things on one and they were well priced against Trek’s and Scott’s that the shop had been retailing for a few years. Five have failed. Three have had replacement frames (one guy has had two replacement frames) after much pushing and eventually taking their dispute direct to Italy whilst two guys have been refused frames. One of these guys has had his warrenty voided by effecting a repair to superficial damage caused by dropping a chain! Gee if that’s not normal wear and tear I don’t know what is.

The local Kuota Agent wasn’t any help. When Kuota rejected the claim he just accepted the decision and passed it on to the customer. The LBS changed hands only a few months after the guys bought the bikes and wasn’t dealing with Kuota or thier agent and didn’t want to get involved.

Kuota spent big money sponsoring a team in the TdF then ignore a customer who paid full freight for one of thier frames!

I am more than happy to forward e-mails and photographs of my mate’s frames to anyone considering a Kuota purchase. I am not personally effected. I have no personal grievance against Kuota. I gain no advantage by telling this story. I have no fear of liable by Kuota against myself because I am telling the truth and can back it up with facts.

NB: On reflection I am effected in that one close friend who isn’t well to do, just like most of us, average guy, goes to work, motgage, kids etc has given cycling away because he can’t afford to replace his frame and the old Giant doesn’t do it for him anymore.

Please accept this posting as a warning. Don’t buy a Kuota, there are a lot of bikes out there supported by companies that provide customer support that you may need. Kuota will not be there if you need them.

Good news CALFEE said today that the repair is straightforward.
