Krispy Kreme Challenge tomorrow

1st timer here. What are your strategies?

3x veteran here. you need water to get them down. i always had trouble finding enough water because the donut station is packed with people. so i used to carry my own disposable water bottle.
if you are really going for the glory and want to get all 12 down as fast as possible, you cram 2 or even 3 donuts together and then dunk in a cup of water…think kobiashi.
the return run you just hang on for dear life. my record is 7 donuts and only phlegm, no vomit.

rookies please, I downed 12 crispy creme donuts in a parking lot without even thinking about it and to the amazement of my wife, her sister and sister’s friend!!!

I failed miserably at this one… I think it was mental more than anything. Try not to pay attention to how many you’ve eaten, how many you have to go. That seemed to be the common denominator on who did well and who didn’t. The guys stuffing them down never said a word about progress and never looked at their box. The guys hanging around and struggling kept starring at the box.

Big agree on the water… you can have enough and the bottle/glass can never be big enough for exactly why he said, dunk that shit!

What is the KKC?

Yikes

Did this yesterday. Very fun if you love donuts. I mashed 3 together at a time and had some water with me. They are so tasty I did not notice myself getting full until the last 3 but running back my belly was so full I felt like Santa Claus

I’m 1 for 2 at my KK Challenge attempts. I’m a pretty good eater, but downing a dozen doughnuts was one of the most difficult things I’ve ever done. And I’ve done a bunch of marathons, half ironmans, and everything in-between. The first year, I failed. Gave up after about 7 doughnuts. The next year I almost cried I was so happy to finish that box of doughnuts.

that’s awesome. maybe someone up here will start their own race.

now i have the biggest craving…

A lot of people have variants sometimes called donut runs.

My university’s tri club has a 5K where you get subtractions for each KK you eat at the aid stations. You can even have a negative 5K time if you eat enough – world record in gluttony!

1st timer here. What are your strategies?

So how did it go??

I’ve done it 4 times. Completing the challenge all four times, including a top 20 finish out of more than 7500. I found it helps BIG TIME to have something salty to drink to help force down the donuts and break up the sugar taste. (i.e gatorade)

Completed my 4th challenge. Top 50 finish without dunking. I think next year that will be my big move and I can think about cracking top 25 or even higher. Already counting down the days!

Where are the results posted? I am also already looking forward to next year and am curious to see how I did

I got 19th overall the year I went. My advice drink lots of water and dont chew.

You guys are gluttons for punishment. I did it once, cruised on the run, shoveled the doughnuts down, and cleared it in under an hour. I have absolutely no desire to repeat the experience or make an all out speed attempt.

I’m such a glutton for punishment that one year I actually ate a 13th doughnut on the run back. Ran up next to a lady and she was a “leisure” runner or whatever they call it. She was carrying the remainder of her box of doughnuts and asked her “could you spare one??” she gladly gave one up, i ate and ran.

Another good war story form this race was myself and two friends went into it with a three musketeers attitude…“all for one and one for all”. Basically instead of eating a dozen a piece we ate 36 between the 3 of us. One buddy got to 9.5-10 and started bitchin’ that he couldn’t do it. I basically said “give it here you panzy!” shoved an extra couple down and we ran back
