Is the salt so bad that it makes sense to completely change clothes in T-1 ? If not, does anyone have any not so obvious tips for dealing with the salt water after getting out of the swim ?
You can use the showers they provide at T1 to get rid of the salt.
Ninety percent of my races have ocean swims and let me tell you that a little salt water never hurt anyone. We all sweat salt water. Some people change into cycling shorts for Ironman distance events, but this has nothing to do with salt water.
A shower would be a good idea, but be sure not to drop the soap with that many people coming up behind you.
The post is timed perfectly. Why don’t you watch today’s telecast of last year’s Ironman on NBC. You can get some ideas from watching the telecast.
there is no ‘‘dealing with the salt’’ just keep going and dont think about it…
