Kona roll down

From the IMCDA race packet:

“2007 Ford Ironman World Championship registration is from 9:00 am - 11:00 am on Monday morning…Roll down happens immediately following the Awards Brunch, approximately 1:00 pm. If you qualify for a slot, you MUST accept your slot and complete the paperwork during the hours of 9:00 am - 11:00 am. If you qualify and do not claim your slot during these hours, your slot will be rolled down to the next athlete in your age division.”

Can someone explain this to me? If the roll down happens AFTER Kona registration, how do I know if I’ve qualified or not, unless I win my age group (which won’t happen)?

kona qualifiers are shown when the results are posted. all qualifiers must claim their slots during the hours stated. unclaimed slots are distributed at the rolldown. if you placed within a few places of the last awarded slot in your age group, it may be worthwhile to go to the rolldown.

At the kona registration table (9-11 @ CDA) they have sheets printed out for each age group. Each sheet has a line drawn on it. If your name is above that line step forward and give them a check (and fill out some paper work). If your name is just below it stick around for the roll down. If it’s WAY below it - have a good lunch.
