Kona 2008 - Which bike brands will fill the pier?

Any thoughts on the top bike brands on the pier in Kona this year?

Top 10 brands and which brand will make the biggest move up? I am sure some we can make this an official competition with a prize of some sort.

There will be a few Cervelo’s!

Felt could post some gains due to the increased number of carbon fiber, aerodynamic bikes during the last year. I see Scott cooling off on their much bally-hooed growth. Trek may hold steady-ish with TTX’s in the mix.

It’s pretty obvious who the overall leader will be. Again.

Cervelo will dominate, I’m guessing around 500 bikes with Trek in 2nd (maybe 120 or so), Felt, Specialized and Scott battling for third with around 100 bikes each.

Its all gonna be SCOTT! There is something about that short guy. Maybe he can’t swim and run like rest of ST but people love him here.

Wait. Hold on. You mean… there are tri-bike brands other than Cervelo? Seriously, I was in a transition zone this morning for my race and it was an accented e fest like you wouldn’t believe. P2Cs for everyone!

(But seriously they’re awesome)

I predict a few P4s in the pro racks.

You heard it here first.

here we go again

Don’t forget Argon18!

I’ve been to a whole bunch of Tris this year and I certainly agree that there are more Cervelo’s out there then any other brand. The question is will they be able to hold on to the lead with something that is really breath taking (P4C?) or will they be gobbled up by some one else who can produce a true aero bike as good or better for less. In the mean time I am very confident that my P3C with a set of Zipp wheels (404 up front and disc in the back) with Shimano DA components in between is giving me the most speed possible for the watts that I can deliver to the pedals. And that’s what I see as the most important factor in a bike used in a non draft environment: the most mph for the least watts. Tim

I think Orbea could post a good year with the new Orca. Maybe still 4th or 5th though…way too big of a gap to close.
