Knot inside of foot below ankle

I have a friend who is experiencing a knot on the inside of her right foot below her ankle. During most runs she doesn’t have any pain at all. It is a few days after a run that she experiences pain. She uses a tennis ball to help roll the knot out, but it doesn’t seem to go away and is worried that it is plantar fasciitis**. **A side note is she does about 25 miles a week on some asics that are stability shoes.

If anyone has some ideas that she could do help the pain or what the problem is that would be great.

Thanks

Pretty vague, posting for another and then on an internet forum …

But, my educated guess would be to investigate 2 possibilities:

  1. Accessory navicular (aka os tibiale externum) - at the posterior tibial tendon insertion
  2. Plantar fibroma in the medial band of the plantar fascia

Have her Google away and better yet, keep Googling for local specialists
